The trait give you +1 strength to the characteristic after you slay a monster etc.
Do my Lord have with his e-fist still a strength 4×2+1=9?
Or (4+1)×2=10?

You work out the strength of the model first, then apply weapon modifiers. Designers Commentary, first page. It would be (4+1)x2=10
