How do?

So rather than clog up the news and rumour thread, thought I'd start this one. Is what it is in the title, natch.

For me?

Well, I look to the original Warhammer Quest as a source of nostalgia (it really was a mighty fine game) and inspiration.

The main expansions were character packs, and Quest packs. Characters looked like this.
Spoiler:

.

And the Quest expansions looked like this
Spoiler:

Both came with new models, and the rules/counters for them. The Quest expansions contained new floor tiles and set adventures.

Crucially for me, the Character Packs weren't just existing Warhammer Heroes repackaged (looking at you, Kill Team). Instead, they were at least entirely new sculpts, or characters we'd never really seen before.

That suited the lower level of Quest. Whilst undeniably a thrilling game, there was no real reason for Military Commanders to be delving into Dungeons - certainly not without a load of their troops to support them. And that's what we're seeing from the start of Blackstone. Each of those included feels right to be knocking about on their own.

For me, that rules out a fair number of the existing 40k characters. So I want to see new dramatis personae. Freebooter Lootennant, rather than a Warboss. A Bonesinger, rather than a Warlock. That sort of thing.

I'd be happy enough with them as individual character packs, things you can slot into the existing choices. Provided they fit. So I can see a Rogue Trader taking on a Freebooter, but not a Dark Eldar or Chaos type. Which opens up the potential for new adventurer sets. Imagine a Court of The Archon type thing, as a single plastic sprue. Incubi, Trueborn, Archon/Archite, Lamean etc. A Dark Eldar themed crew. Likewise Craftworld Eldar. Bonesinger/niche psyker, citizens from different paths (has to be a Path of the Historian etc), may an Aspect Warrior or two for the fightin'.

And with new crew packs, why not include adventure cards suited to them? Really give us the feel that different folks have different goals with the Blackstone.

I'd also want new Hostiles. Definitely. That can be pretty much anything (but they can't just tease us with an Ambull pic on the cards and not deliver!)

But what about you? What's you vision for it's expansion and future support?

I'd personally look to Silver Towers for a vision on how Blackstone might be added onto aka: taking existing models and adding them in.

I would not be surprised if the first two "expansions" will be The Elucidian Starstriders as a stand alone box with rules for playing them.

As well as the Gellerpox as new enemies.

As for a full expansion, I'd expect that to be new sprues. Probably additional Spindle Drone units to expand the Blackstone Fortress.

Would be great to see card packs to allow us to add in friends or enemies we already have (eg, the Rogue Trader baddies, or the RT good guys!), but since i haven't played yet, I don't yet have a good sense for what I'd like to see, or what aspects of the game might easily be expanded.

But I'll be kicking around this thread for a bit, to hear what others think!

I play...

Sigh.

I quite like the idea.oit forth in the N&R thread about swapping the sides over. Once the imperium take possession of the fortress, a chaos war and needs to go in and takepossession from the now imperial defenders.

That is a mighty fine idea. The setting itself is very flexible in that regard.

We know there are Ur-Ghul aboard, which suggests some kind of Webway and Dolmen Gate access. That neatly allows all forms of Aeldari and Necrons to get stuck in.

Orks is Orks, so will turn up in time.

I’d still like to see flexible expansions. Boxed sets of all new sculpts which provide both adventurers and hostiles, depending on player preference.

Wishlisting? No problem!

Arbite hero, second tier tank a power level down from UR-025

Snikkrot, or maybe an ork kommando group as an enemy team.

More Dark Mechanicus, with a boss and some more twisted cyber dudes and robots.

Single character versions of some of the more interesting 40k units would be cool. A stealth suit character, for instance.

Ooh, and an Imperial Navy Pilot

An enemy team of plain mutants, not chaos-ified or nurglesque.

I'd really go for expanded Dark Mechanicum stuff.

I feel like they planned this one better than the last two whq games. This one might get true dedicated expansions with new models. The card art already hints at some kind of ambull or monster. I'd love a card pack for the elucidian starstriders though. Also wouldn't mind seeing a demiurg or squat character. This is a good chance to do models for things that are not normally seen on the battlefields of 40k.

I also wouldn't mind seeing more spindle drones or blackstone fortress specific ai or defense systems. Wouldn't complain if they did more dark mechanicus as well.

I have just one...hope. That they don't introduce power creep in the game. I like that BSF, as it stands is more indicative of the fluff and lore as we see it in novels. I love the idea that one or two Space Marines is a big friggin' deal. I hope the future doesn't pull a Kill Team and introduce Terminators and Astartes and become a Space Hulk clone of some sort. I enjoy the level it's at. The bottom tier of what can survive in a hostile environment.

I would like a new crew of a shabby looking but robust privately owned transport. Some of them could be renegades of a past civil.war trying to hide from the authorities and working on the raggedy edge of the law while wearing long Brown coats. Maybe with a genius young girly mechanic and maybe a doctor and his... gifted... sister.

All alone out in the black.

The current line up includes an Elite Eldar super sniper with tech that enables her to walk through walls and a giant robot with an Assault cannon.

A Marine or two - even a Terminator would not be OP.

Wish list.

Some Genestealers - both as adversarys and also as a hero - get stuff for implanting enemies plus ship
Dark Eldar and some pets plus ship
Some frog men in search of a a Slann

Skaven - they really need some to burrow into the wrong universe and cause havoc.

A squat or two. They've been ignored for too long. Surely the Tyranids didn't eat ALL of them?

A zoat would be cool, as well as a loxatl or one of those dark eldar serpentine bounty hunters. But this game doesn't have the dwarf archetype filled yet, and a proper whq game needs that. The ratlings don't count cause they are obviously hobbit inspired. A loxatl makes more sense than a zoat though. Or they could do some kind of new alien. Theres probably all sorts of oddball characters on the precipice.

Zoats could well be reimagined. And indeed, would need to be to some degree, given how Tyranids have, ahem, evolved in the background since their debut.

I'd really like to see BSF used as a sort of test bed for new and interesting stuff. Think Inquisitor, which featured nasties like Kashrak the Stalker. A Xenos of a previously unseen species.

I imagine any spacefaring, warp capable race would want to at least try for the Blackstone Fortress. They don't need to be galactic movers and shakers.

I'd like little scenery expansions ala Heroquest.
Nothing board filling, just maybe things like a console, a supply chest, liquid filled containment vat etc.
They could be interactive and provide good or bad "loot" or mission updates etc.

Additional hostile packs would add to the replayabilit, such as Enslavers (if they don't run afoul of the Beholder IP) and Catachan Devils etc. A Descent-style appraoch would probbly suit the game, with additional heroes, strongholds and threats in one box.

Since we have a Kroot, a Vespid (strain leader) character would also be interesting, and a nice way to introduce a plastic version.

I'd enjoy seeing an outcast marine as well - maybe an Unforgiven, secretly working some angle for Cypher or perhaps a Space Wolf lone wolf (mayhaps with a wolf companion?).

A guardsman special weapons team (say Harker & friend or an Officer/Commissar and bodyguard) would be an interesting character to run, ala the Ratling twins.

It never ends well

So you create a named canoness from one of the orders other than our martyred lady and you make rules for her in blackstone, killteam and 40k. Release a kill team with super church scenery to complement the 40k box set of sisters which will drop with the new dex.

If not, sisters gotta get in on blackstone some other way.

A good Grey Knight character with a decent 40k cross-over might help that poor beleaguered dex a bit- especially coupled with updates in Chapter Approved.

Baron Sathonyx, Duke Slisscus, Lady Malys, the Decapitator (especially him; imagine him leading a squad or detachment of mandrakes). They missed the chance to do this for Gangs of Commorragh; had they not missed said chance, that game might have had some teeth. Then they had a chance with the drukari codex and they didn't do it there either.

I think his power level might be too high for this game, but of course, we also need an Asdrubael Vect himself.

A named genestealer Magus, or the aberrant leader from tooth and claw as a stand alone.

Inquisitors. Lots of Inquisitors.

A named repentia or mistress?

A new Hospitaller, Dialogus or even a Famulous.

Slaaneshi awesomeness in the form of Emperor's children and perhaps Fabius Bile or Daemonettes as new baddies if a Slaanesh dex drops.

A named genestealer purestrain or patriarch- one who evades reabsorption by the hive fleet and so has been a part of many cults.

Soooo much potential.
