Hello.

I started converting a beastmen army for the lost and the damned army ages ago.

Unfortunately, before I had it painted, GW made it illegal :-(

Now I am considering running it in Kill team, but I am unsure of what rules to use.
I want two different types of soldiers, gors and ungors, that's big, strong and not-so-shooty versus man sized but shootier.

Any suggestions for what rules to use?

/ Best regards, Fredrik

They are supposed to be adding rules for the hostiles from the Blackstone Fortress box, which contains Beastmen, so you'll probably have Kill Team rules soon.

Chaos Cultists under the Chaos Space Marine section is really the only thing I can think they work as easily. For regular cultists you have the autorifle or autopistol plus brutal assault weapon. For gunners you have choice of heavy stubber or flamer. That is it.

If you want to get a little more fancy than that, you might be able to count as those beastmen as Genestealer Cultists or maybe orks. Both of them have a lot more choices than Chaos cultists, but might get confusing pretty fast what everything is supposed to be.

But like Luciferian said, they have a pretty good chance of getting their own Kill Team rules as it seems right now GW is supporting Kill Team more than the usual one-and-done for many of their more recent boxed games.

The good thing about Kill Team right now is all the units available for use in Kill Team are listed in the main rule book. Of course, this also kinda means there isn't a whole lot of choice in models/war gear.

I‘m old enough to remember the days when beastmen regiments were part of the Imperial Guard.

If you honour the history, you might use Bestigors or other big ones as Scions and the smaller ones as ordinary Troopers.

Could you run the big ones as counts as chaos marines and the man sized ones as supporting cultists?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I’d go with genestealer cult.

You have abbarants for the heavies and neophytes for the lighter shooty ones.

Many good suggestions, thanks.

I normally play GSC, so surprised I didn’t think of them. On the other hand, it’s fun to try something else.

One of the others in the group plays orcs, so I think I’ll stay away from them.

That leaves IG or chaos marines then...

Disclaimer, I never played tL&tD, so this is more based off my old whfb days:

I'm not sure IG would be the best choice, as their "elite" guys are just better shots and have better armor, not something gor are known for.

Chaos would work, but your gor would have a 3+ save, which is pretty high for beastmen. Might work if you based them on bestigor, gave them more armor while you were building them, or even just declared that their hides are resistant to small arms fire (they are mutants, after all).

Orks have the closest stat line to gor (T4, poor armor, good melee, fairly cheap), but that would leave you with very fragile ungor (S2, T2) that were only good for getting into the way (sometimes hilariously so, though, with the grot shield). There should be plenty of room for two "Ork" players in a campaign, but I could see not wanting to double up if it's avoidable.

GSC could definitely work, too, though. They've got cheap, shooty neophytes for the ungor, bad saves all around, and a universal ambush rule that fits right in. There's not a direct gor equivalent, though, as the metamorphs are fairly killy in melee but have T3 and the aberrants might be too monstrous (S5, two wounds, reduce damage by 1), which would make for one beefy gor. Did you have any minotaur equivalents or chaos spawn? They might be another option as a stand-in for the aberrants (or just have besitgor be really souped-up gor).

-edit- And yeah, the Blackstone chaos KT should work almost perfectly once it inevitably comes out. Heretic Guard as ungor, beastmen as gor (crazy, I know), and then either ignore the marines or just have them be the champions/bestigor. No idea when that'll be released, though, but I don't imagine they'd want to wait long to give people another reason to buy Blackstone and/or branch out into KT with the shiny new models that came with the game.

The black fortess kill team data sheets were released today, beastmen are part of a new faction, "servants of the abyss".
