Subject: Best faction book to represent misc. mixed races?

Hello all, quick question: I'm part of a narrative campaign at my FLGS. the GM said we could ally with other codices/factions other then our own if we gave ample story-based reasoning that they would help us. Our campaign takes place in a bottle-necked planet at one of the few entrances to Imperium Nihilus where a group of minor xenos and their sympathizers started a revolt. Now all our armies are fighting to aid/destroy/loot the conflict. Anyways, I thought it might be cool to dust off some older sci-fi mini's a have laying about as native allies (both human and xenos) I think I can convince to help me, but what's a good faction book to represent them? I've considered tau (index if my GM allows), possibly something else from Index Xenos 2 (I have that book already.) I dunno, any suggestions? The particulars of the xenos on this planet was kept pretty vague, though they are obviously quite sneaky (they basically hid all this time and then usurped control, after all)

So, from Index Xenos 2 you have Genestealer cults, Tau, Tyranids and Orks. Tyranids can mix with GSC, and not anyone else.
I'd say you could reasonbly put either of the 3, GSC, Tau, or Orks together. GSC could easily be manipulating the Tau, and Orks have what are basically mercs. Tau are willing to work with other races, though orks and tau are a no go as Orks are on the Tau's shoot on sight list iirc.
So, GSC + Orks, GSC + Tau I believe.

All good ideas, thanks. But what I was thinking is that I would basically invent the xenos themselves (some minor natives) and just use rules for them from one of the factions. I think, for the variation found in the faction, I might go with index tau.

Well in this case it will mostly depends on how your minis look like and / or you want them to be played. You could use pretty much any rules you think represents best your amry.
For sneaky gits, if they are close of humans in stature and equipment, GSC seems a good pick, since this army is pretty much some kind of rebels with make-do equipment.
