This did not happen to me, but to my friend. The situation was his opponent made a line of gaunts to hold two objectives and he removed ones from the middle and did not have unit cohesion but after the phase moved them into unit cohesion. Is this a legal move? Don't you have to remove models in a way that you keep unit cohesion?

That opponent could also choose to not move his gaunts in the subsequent turn, and for the rest of the game.

Also, there is no requirement for them to move in the direction of closest coherency - they just need to end the move in coherency.
