In an attempt to weed out my IG and just have a playable 1000-1500 points, this is my initial stab at a list. I'm really trying to limit myself only to things I have (i.e. no going out and buying X, Y or Z to make the list more boffo).  However, I do have a variety of things, and it's not set in stone, so C&C welcome.

Unnamed 1500 Point IG Doctrines List:

Doctrines: Close Order Drill, Iron Discipline, Veterans, Drop Troops, Special Weapon Squads.

HQ:
Command Squad: JO w/Honorifica, ID. Standard Bearer
2x SWS w/DT, 2 flamers & Demo Charge
2 Sentinels: DT, ML (one has Improved Comms)

Elites:
2x5 Vets: DT, 3 Plasma
1x5 Vets: DT, 3 Melta

Troops:
2 platoons (identical):
JO w/ID, COD
2x Squads w/Las, COD
1xSquad w/AC, COD

Fast Attack
2x2 Sentinels w/ML, DT
1x5 SOB Seraphim; Vet w/BP, PW, Book of St. Lucius. 2 HF.
This is probably the only 'off' unit, but I had 150 points to fill and ran out of plausible IG units, except maybe a Russ or something. They're LD 9, a Faith Point, and give an added mobile Leadership Bubble to the army, and can handle some mop-up and counterassault, if necessary (though that's what the JOs are for).

Thoughts? Again, I do have some other IG stuff I can use, so it's not set in stone. C&C truly welcome.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I've fielded mixed Sisters / IG a few times, it's a fun mix. The IG make up for the Sister's lack of resilient long range heavy weapons, and the Sisters provide badly needed countercharge and FWF (fun with faith).

Dropping each of your Sentinel units down to a single model would let you get a tricked out Flying Nun. So you might have to buy one model. That gives you two more faith points, an indestructible fast CC tarpit (handy when you've got IG). And when she dies (ie when you run out of faith), your Seras get two more faith to burn to Divinely Guide their flamers or lay some CC booyah down.

Single Sentinels are better for dropping anyways - not so bad when your deepstrike scatters badly, and they make your opponent agonize over wasting an entire unit/vehicle's shooting to take out one 45 pt model.

It would be nice to give the Sera VSS an Eviscerator and IP so she can pop tanks and instagib characters too. If not, drop her pistol and get her a Brazier for a third flamer attack.

Nah, I've got about 2000 points of Sisters, so I don't have to buy a thing . Thought about Getting a Canonness in the list loaded for bear, and I'd love to give the Seraphim SS a chainsaw, but didn't have the points. I'll consider it strongly (and I'll assume you're not just suggesting this so I'll get rid of my 2 extra sentinels here...)

If you've got all those sisters, then why not take another unit of Sera's and drop the rest of the Sentinels?

I've had really bad luck with Sentinels, dropped or otherwise. They just die. The only time they might accomplish something worthwhile, is if they drop behind a tank and pop it. For that, I'd take AC + HK missile.

A few multilasers dropping are only going to remove 0-2 infantry models per multilaser, or maybe glance a speeder. Then the sentinels get popped the following turn. AV10 + open-topped = dead to anything with S4 infantry weapons.

Unless you're just taking them to grab objectives...better hope they come in late and the scatter doesn't take them into LOS!

Hey, I like me some Seraphim. I really do, but I like Sentinels as well. I've seen 'em used to pretty good effect, even if they get pieced by str.4 weaponry. I think 6 should be sufficient numbers to make my opponent have to make choices.

And I don't _have_ to deep-strike 'em; I could just go with the strike move, if I want. Nah, the Sentinels (at least 4 of 'em) stay, for now...
