My Devastator Squad still has two of the Lascannon Devastators that were some of my first completed models. The Bolter Marines for said squad are the three Marines from the $10 box of push-fit Marines. These are my literal first, second, and third models of anything Warhammer 40K.

I still have some of my original Guardsmen painted awfully in the red and black scheme I was super excited about, called the Martian 7th before I knew anything about the universe. Love these little guys, they always make me want to start a Guardsman army again every time I look at them

I have a few metal power armor Calgars around, plus a ninja style rogue trader assassin and some beakies. The first 40k models I ever painted were a friend's Terminator squad plus Captain and Librarian that came in the first Terminator box set. I just stripped those to repaint them.

Some of my Tyranid Warrior models are the ones I collected 20 years ago.

Come to think of it, the core of my Chaos army is around 20 years old.

Yes, my entire SW army is a relic of the past. They see action about every other week currently.
95% of the models I'm using today are the same ones I was fielding back at the end of RT/dawn of 2e. The paint jobs been upgraded a few times over the years though.

Other than better paint jobs, the only changes have been:
1) Sometime in 2e I replaced a few non-SW termie models for SW specific ones.
2) Along about mid-2e I added a pair of landspeeders & a 2nd dreadnought.
3) Shortly after FW released the Thunderhawk as a resin kit I was able to pick up one of the all metal special edition Thunderhawks from '97 for a really good price.
4) Over the years a few non-RT/2e bitz have been added - shoulder pads, special weapons, decorative bits, bases, objective markers, etc
5) Here in 8th I had to add a 3rd squad of Grey Hunters to make a legal force.
6) I recently upgraded the armies 2e armourcast drop pods to the current GW ones

My sisters of battle army (started with them) are following still the colour scheme i started way back when. Still have my blessed weapon wielding, jump pack jumping cannoness from back when she could still have a jump pack.
Only thing to have changed is painting technique. Armour and cloaks still the same but now has a Ard Cote glaze to really make it pop and the hair painting has improved dramatically. I still have 4 models with the original hair that i painted.

I was never that enamoured with my initial 40k armies. I do have the first models I ever bought but they are High Elves.

I still have every model I ever bought and a lot of my first eldar start collecting box still sees the table. However it did have to be stripped and repainted because 13 year old me thought that a really thick paint job of glossy green would be a good idea. Oh and I had to scrap the war walker for parts after it got crushed so bits of that are just hanging out in my other 3. I think I still have the bodies of 2 guardians that were lost in the same accident in that colour scheme in my bitz box.

I routinely put a blend of models on the table ranging from the old RT days to modern kits.

My Eldar are noticeable in that I started them in my “black wash EVERYTHING” phase. Not a bad look, but I prefer a cleaner look now.

If you know where to look, you can see the changes in the GW paint line in my Ultras.

Still have some woefully-painted metal dwarfs kicking around in a box somewhere. They've not seen daylight for some time though.

I still have marines in my original white with blue pauldron livery (not the world eaters precursors). Just regular marines using the ultramarines list (when lists as such came out in wd and so on).
I still have eldar with the metallic blue armour.

I started them both in late 1987/early 1988.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

My oldest model was a swordsman from Empire, named “Sam”. He stuck around for a long time, but eventually got sold with the rest of the army. I think my oldest model now is my Keeper of Secrets with the bull head, from fantasy 5th edition (I got him in 6th).

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I recently unearthed a space marine I had posed to be boarding a landspeeder, when I knew nothing of the game and had simply been given a box of bits by my cousin. I though marines with beaky helmets were the bad guys and marines without beaky helmets were the good guys. I also bodged together random bits (dark eldar body, ork legs, marine arm, half an ork arm with an axe, etc) to make "models". In my defence, I was about 7 at the time. I got better.

I still have the Dark Angels that were going to be my first army, though I have converted them to Renegades/Chaos Marines now. I really wasn't a fan of their lore, but I got a good deal on Dark Vengeance and felt like it was the easy choice. Then I realized that I liked the Chaos designs better, so I stripped the paint off of the Dark Angels and scratched up all the Imperial logos and DA iconography with an angled metal file. I still need to go back and re-prime and re-paint them in the Chaos army's colors.

I have my original metal malifaux figures (my first 28mm game, I played the zombie faction), a few sentimental pieces of my original space wolf and then Necron armies, the rest I have sold/traded. And just recently my first Ork model from 16 years ago went "index only".

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I still have all my metal Malifaux figures.

I haven't been playing as much as I used to, but when I was playing in 2E, I would buy masters that I didn't already have, so Masters that I had from 1E I just kept using the metal for. So most of my collection is the old metal kits. Lady J, Hoffman, Lucius, and a bunch of supporting models. In fact, my favorite models Wyrd has ever made were the original metal Guild Guard, and even today the majority of my collection is 1E metal.

Then in plastic I have Sonnia, McMorning and McCabe (really, going to be sad to see these two leave), and Nellie. Only master I'm currently missing is Perdita! Still, I miss playing Malifaux. Some of those old metal models were really a treat.

Most of my riflemen are still painted in my original IG green-and-brown scheme, before I switched to white-and-grey. Two of my tanks still are.

That said, I also have miniatures from when I first started building and painting models; there's a T-34/76, which is I think my first model, on the shelf.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!
