For added contrast, I'd recommend hitting the base with some brown shade. Grey is very close to the metal frame of the knights and swallows them a bit.

Your heavy stubber is clogged, that is to say, not drilled out. If you don't have practice, don't try it on the painted model. ;-]

Aye, a wonky hole is hard to fix and looks bad! Just try painting a dot of black in the middle instead.
