It all started as a routine recruitment mission.
The Strike Cruiser Dauntless was dispatched, as is custom, once a century to visit the Planet of Aurealis Secundus to visit, check and collect the humans with the most potential to join the ranks of the Dark Angels.
The need of the Chapter was high, as the emergance of Cicatrix Maledictum put a huge strain on the Chapter. Attrition was high and the Gene Banks of The Rock were better stocked than ever.

It came as a surprise to Squad Idrael that the villagers did not greet them as per usual. After all, being chosen to serve the Star Gods was considered a huge honor among them. Instead only the Village Elder approached them, almost groveling over the ground in his need to appease.
He looked gaunt and haunted to an extend even a detached Space Marine could tell.
The explanation was short. In the past years, more and more of the villagers disappeared. Venturing into the woods and undergrowth was deemed a terrible risk now, albeit a necessary one. Food and game was mostly found in there, so a slow spiral to doom had set in.
The Elder also told stories of "flying monsters" that would snatch the unwary hunter, carry him further into the undergrowth, never to be seen again. Unfortunately, the screams of the unlucky victim could be heard for a long time. A way too long time.
Sergeant Idrael decided that an unknown threat like this could not be allowed to interfere with the chapter's recruitment.
Due to the need to cover more ground, the squad was split, with Apothecary Sandalphon to remain with the other squad.
After setting out, it took them, according to their armors chronometer, 38 minutes to encounter the first specimen.
It darted out of the thick woods with incredible speed, snapping at Brother Hazafel, throwing him to the ground and denting his plate. Surprised as everyone was since the Auspex did not give any signs of lifeforms ahead, they fell back, firing, to a backward position where they had crossed some ancient ruins in a clearing.
Digging in, the squad took firing positions, voxing their situation to the battle brothers nearby.
And thus the first battle for Aurealis Secundus was fought.

Well since you're at the source, it's pretty easy for you... Make it bigger, imagine a 100+cm tank, actually planned out with some ruins and life plants! You could use some really big fish or a big swarm
resin works btw, the one I used is E45T which actually IS for aquarium use and is therefore absolutely safe.
