Okay, so hobby butterfly mode seems to want to engage this Christmas season and Craftworlds Eldar is one of the last of the 5th edition armies I had that I haven't touched for 8th ('Nids I'm not touching). Fortunately I've got some stuff painted and some old stuff I can re-purpose to my current (favored paint scheme), shown below:

Painting this scheme was a lot more difficult before I had an airbrush.

Currently I have done in this scheme:
1x Warlock (metal)
1x Wraithlord (plastic)
5x Wraithguard (metal)
2x5 Dire Avengers (plastic, glaive and shimmershield
1x Wave Serpent (magnetized with Brightlances but can swap)
2x War Walkers (plastic) with Missile Launchers and Scatter Laser
Also metal Maugan Ra who will probably stay in his current paint job, because nobody tells Maugan Ra what colors he should wear.

Currently unpainted but basically ready for priming:
5x Warlocks (metal)
1x Farseer (metal)
5x Swooping Hawks (metal, 2nd generation)
2x5 Dire Avengers (no Exarchs, meant to buff above squads)
2x Dark Reapers (metal, 2nd generation)

Unassembled:
1x Wave Serpent
1x War Walker
5x Swooping Hawk (metal 2nd generation)
2x Warp Spiders (metal)
There may be a bit more but I'd have to do some serious digging through old boxes.

And older stuff in paint schemes that I'd have to strip down:
1x Warlock (metal)
3x Dark Reapers (metal, 1st generation with wing helmets)
1x Swooping Hawk Exarch (metal)
2x Warp Spiders (metal)
1x Warp Spiders Exarch (metal)
4x Fire Dragon (metal)
1x Fire Dragon Exarch (metal)

Now I know the War Walkers aren't ideally armed but they were built to be versatile, I imagine optimal is 2x Shuriken Cannons these days.

I'm considering going Spirit Host/Eldar Stompies, as I really like the new Wraithguard and SC Eldar looks pretty tasty. I'm also thinking of buying Wake the Dead (augments my Primaris Marines too). Those together would give me 10 more Wraithguard (or glaives), another Wraithlord (2) and War Walker (4) as well as the Farseer and Spiritseer, a total of 3 Wave Serpents and enough additional troops to fill out a Battalion.

I'm nonplussed about the Christmas bundle, as I'm not keen on bikes or Vypers as a rule and the Wraithknight might be fun to paint, it's eating a lot of the value of the box's contents.

I don't have the latest codex (yet, will get) and CA is changing points around, so any advice from Craftworlders is appreciated. I'm fairly clueless as to what's decent at the moment, I only have Index Xenos to go by.

You need the codex in the first place and I'd pick up the card deck with the stratagems and psychic powers.
The latter is practical for gaming.
Battlescribe is a nice tool to configure armies. I guess the pt changes will be implemented there asap.

Yeah I'll be picking those up when CA comes out. I've got about a week to think about other choices to make.

With wake the dead and the battleforce box you could make a decent iyanden wraith force. With the stratagems, relics and the upcoming formation from vigilus a melee focused wraith list looks pretty tasty.
Lovely paint job by the way.

Thanks. I tend to run shooty lists, so I'm thinking maybe some melee wraiths driven up by wave serpents with Dire Avengers to take objectives, and using the War Walkers as a distraction.

So I picked up SC:Craftworlds and Wake the Dead and now I'm looking at a start of 1000 points. The plan is a single Battalion along the following lines (all costs CA2018):

1x Spiritseer (65)
1x Spiritseer (65)
5x Dire Avenger, Exarch with Power Glaive and Shimmershield (66)
5x Dire Avenger, Exarch with Power Glaive and Shimmershield (66)
10x Defender Guardians, Support Weapon w/ Shuriken Cannon (95)
5x Wraithblades with Ghostaxe and Force Shield (225)
5x Wraithguard with Wraith Cannon (190)
1x Wave Serpent with Spirit Stone, Shuriken Cannon and Twin Shuriken Cannon (167)
1x War Walker with Two Shuriken Cannon (60)

I'd still need to order the non-plastic Spiritseer for this list, but it's nice to have 2 different models. Craftworld Iyanden. obviously.

I'm quibbling on replacing the Wraithguard with a Wraithlord with twin Bright Lances and maybe a second War Walker.
