Does Red Dead Redemption have real cities or does it have fictional ones like Grand Theft Auto?

I only have experience with the second game, but it's fictionalized.

The regions are pretty condensed too, in that you have a New Orleans-esque Southern town and plains and snowy mountains within rideable distances. That's probably more a gameplay thing as the rides are already pretty long, having them be realistically far apart would make things tedious.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

So RDR has fictional cities like Grand Theft Auto with Los Santos/Los Angeles, Liberty city/New York city, and so on?

Almost everything in RDR is fictionalized to imitate real life. The only things that are real are the countries. USA and Mexico are in RDR, but it takes place in what would be considered the eastern portions of Texas(New Austin). The second game expands on that further and has multiple fictionalized states, instead of just cities/counties.

If you look in to the lore, even the US President and Leader of Mexico are fictionalized.
