Two new starter sets for Eden the Game by Happy Games Factory.

The first is a first-part resin starter for a new faction, representing mutant humans and their allies from under the sea Meet the Sagaarien:

The second starter is Happy Games Factory's annual tradition of holiday models in their Eden setting. This year is a team of living Snowmen ready to rampage:

The KS campaign is short (adn already successful), as HGF is looking to recoup the charges they have already spent on developing and producing the models. Starter sets are already in hand in France and ready to be sent at the completion of the KS run.

I almost jumped into playing Eden, it was in my final three (small manufacturer) skirmish games to choose from. The sculpts are nice, the painting looks fantastic, but price wise they are higher end. No English speaking groups seam to be playing it and most videos I saw were in French (which I took a year of in high school 28 years ago) except for the beast of war video which just didn’t sell it to me. I’d love to see more support such as fundamentals of each faction before I even think about jumping in. Scale shots would be great as I thought the ISC were really expensive models but then saw they were much larger than other models in the BOW video.

I agree with Eden having amazing sculpts. I especially love the ISC. The price has made me hesitant, and the unavailability in the US with their official stock being perpetually out has made it difficult to convince me otherwise.

$45 for a starter seems on-par with the other factions' starters.

I know they are looking, and have been looking, for distribution in the US. The HGF team often makes the trip to the US for events like GenCon. I know they make every effort to have good translations for their products, though there is not much support in the videos.

Prices seem on par with a lot of games, but the international shipping definitely takes it back north.

The game itself only requires 3-8 models. The average is probably 5. The table does not take much space or terrain.

If you guys have any questions on the game (gameplay, model comparisons, faction break-downs), let me know. Maybe we'll make a thread in the Other Minitures Games section.

Current stretch goals already included:

Paper game mat
2 card stock pages of scenery
2 card stock pages of buildings
2 30mm bases
1 40mm base

Per starter set.

That's easily enough to lay out a table and get in a game.

I do have interest in the game. But linking to a video in French with no subtitles is not helpful.

Barzam and myself have been quite interested in Eden for some time.

I know he's painted up quite a few ISC mechs, and I've done a few Resistance guys in the past.

I really want the Kenshiro sculpt that I can't ever seem to find...

The new faction looks pretty cool too.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I would have totally missed the announcement of the release into the Americas considering it's in French. Then again, you can't really blame a non-English speaking small company for their language of choice.

As for the video, using the imperfect CC translation, it seems Pierre is talking about the in-world story of Eden in Europe vs the Americas. I may be mistaken.

"...The Sagaarians gameplay is a similar of the Askaris gameplay with adaptations of course. Actually when we ask ourselfwhat the gameplay will be soon enough we realized we already made all the gameplays we would with all the factions we have been developed in Europe. So the question was will we use for the news narrative arc the gameplay of the existing factions, or will we take the risk to make a new gameplay more flawed? We choosed the first solution to create a new narrative arc with new factions in a new continent while reusing the existing gameplays in the narrative arc Europe. The new objective was to start in the city of Sagaar which has in the background astraide the position between both continents that will be playable in Europe and later on in America...."

He's talking about the narrative position of the new Indian-themed faction which seems to reside in underwater cities. They retreated to the oceans prior to the apocalypse and are between Europe and the Americas in the game. The game will then, narratively, be shifting from its current storyline in Europe to that in the Americas.

If I'm reading it correctly, they are essentially saying that all new factions will be from the Americas. The setting will still include the European factions, but it seems like they will be put on hold for the near future.

I know the team is looking to expand the game into the US, and this is likely a nod in that direction.

In terms of game play, the new faction looks interesting. They are comparing it to the Askari, which are genetically bred soldiers. They are customizable before the game starts, but limited in strategy during the game.

The new faction also has minor/minion level fighters. These guys will be expendable, which is different than the Askari.

How's their cardstock terrain, for those of you returning backers?

It looks nice, and it's a plus that it's included.

I have a fair amount of Battlesystems shanty town urban apoc stuff I still haven't built which is probably perfect for Eden.

The Sagaarien faction is right up my alley design- wise too...

Hi !

Eden is my favorite game since I started playing it. In my P&M blog there are a lot of painted Eden miniatures, mainly Askaris since that's my main faction but also Convoy, ISC, Resistance and Jokers (and tokens, and NPCs, and... did I say I love Eden ?).
My P&M blog : https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/blog/1200/406869.page

It is not up to date but there's still a lot of photos. To see the most recent work, you can check my blog, it is writen in french but pictures don't need a translator. My blog : http://code660066.blogspot.com/
What's funny here is that the scheme for the city of Sagaar is the same I use for my Askaris.

So what I like in Eden is the game format, since you only need a 60x60 cm board to play, a game lasts 1h to 1h30 and the most important point with one starter you have a complete playable band. Of course you can buy more and more minis, but the standard game format is 100 points and that's what you get in a starter. So the new recruits will be used to modify the band and change your gameplay rather than having to buy and paint more and more models to complete the starter until you reach the standard game format. And the box comes with the rulebook too, all you need is 8 sceneries, a handful of dice and maybe a friend.
Also, each faction has a very specific type of play, Askaris don't play at all like Jokers. I am pretty good with Askaris but I am absolutely not good when playing Jokers for instance.

What can be said about Eden is that there are many game modes :
- standard 1Vs1 games, with 100 points on each side
- multiplayer games (up to 4)
- Legends mode, 1 to 4 players fight 1 legendary character of Eden played by another player
- more narrative mode with Burn Out, which introduces rules for 3D terrain, scenarios, the possibility to play with unbalanced bands - not the same amount of points - and campaign rules (with XP, wounds etc)

I'm really curious to see what comes next for the game with this new arc.

I usually end up getting mine from Noble Knight Games, or just ordering direct from France. I have a small painted Askari force and most of Dante’s Angels...also painted. This is probably the only game outside of Darklands I have completely painted forces...

I’d love to find some Houston players, but I suffer from a distinct lack of time...

Urusei Yatsura, Cerebus the Aardvark, Machiavelli, Plato and Happy Days. So, how was your childhood?

I'm not sure who carries them after gamekastle stopped. So Ebay maybe? The ones I have had come from an Indigogo or during a sale on their store. Have never even assembled them and have a bunch of LEs (will smith, a cyborg mutant panther and few others I think).

Noble Knight Games are the only ones that I have seen reliably have any stock in the US.

Taban Miniatures http://www.taban-miniatures.com/shop2/index.php has some of the old stock and free shipping after 50 euro. I have ordered from there multiple times. And the owner is still one of the Eden guys.

The Eden website https://www.eden-the-game.com/ is also good. Its full retail, and international shipping, but really prices are on pace with the industry, maybe a bit better than GW since they come with cards and sometimes tokens. And no need for books.

Last day.

A couple of add-ons have been added, most notably two more starters priced at 35 euro each. Both are from their recent Burn Out KS and models are in resin.

Also, more stretch goals have been added, including a piece of resin terrain, a resin small bot, and a resin model, both added for free.

Finally, we're near the 15K stretch goal of three golden tickets to be found in the produced starters. Each ticket will get one of their studio models. And, if they are done by Mohand, then they will be excellent.

Almost certainly. They have said you can straight order from their website through the pledge manager.

If it doesn't work for you, let me know. I will add to my pledge manager.

This offer goes out to everyone. I'm willing to add to my pledge to pick up pieces for others in the US. Just PM me.

Drazz, do you have any of their terrain from previous campaigns?

How is the quality of those buildings and scatter stuff? Thick enough to support figures on top of them?

I think I'll finally buckle for the Sagaarians.

The cardstock buildings are thick. Like, 1/8th of an inch, almost as thick as a standard base. Push-fit.

I have a couple pics I took the other day.

Damn.. am I correct in understanding that currently there are 3 sheets of thick card terrain like that Drazz?

If so, I am really tempted to get the Snowman pack.. if it includes those sheets plus the Youkai figure

Those three buildings came from two pages of buildings.

Remember, the game is played on 2 ft x 2 ft space. And the terrain is not really as important a factor as in other games; there is very little in the ranged game and, for the most part, there are no rules for changing elevation (you need the add-on Burn Out rules).

So, a few buildings like this really are all you need for an Eden table.

Made in us
Experienced Saurus Scar-Veteran

California the Southern

Yeah, those buildings look pretty nice.

Eden may not need them so much, but they can certainly get a lot of use in plenty of other systems as well!

With the Youkai and extra bots and dice, it is shaping into a pretty nice deal.

Now to track down that Kenshiro figure...
