So, the champion of death comes with 4 zombies, 4 skeletons, 2 ghouls. 2 mummies and 2 wights.

Now the obligatory commend that they could have changed 2 skeletons with 2 ghouls. As zombies are considered better then skeletons, and you usualy want 3 or 4 ghouls.

That being said, the units comes with a sample rooster.

2 Mummys
2 Wight
2 Ghoul
5 Zombie
2 Skeletons.
2 Re-rolls

While not bad in paper per say, I would like to point out that the box only comes with 4 zombies. So they could have changed 1 zombie for a skeleton. But I felt like it was the cherry on topp of having to few ghouls in it.

The models are great though. Now it is just the hunt for the two last ghouls.

You could probably find an Fantasy Undead player who spare a couple of zombies.

So, they are not even usable out of the box? That is a big break from previous teams (except maybe Goblins. I did not pick them up). They were all usable teams out of the box.

It is usable out of the box. Just not with the team they suggest you build out of the box, and you would be lacking one zombie. (Skeletons who you have 3 spare of cost the same.)

The zombies are the only models in the box that I don't like.

Would a team without zombies still be viable in very casual games?

Yeah, if you can get hold of a skeleton or preferrably 2 skeletons and a ghoul you are all good.
