Subject: Movie scenes closest to the insanity of 40k?
So I’m currently in the pub, watching hyper violent movie scenes on my iPad. Yes. Merry Christmas to you too.
And its got me thinking. Whilst the sheer, ridiculous nature of 40k makes it pretty much unfilmable, what movie scenes give at least a glimpse into the horrors of 40k?
From the scenes I’ve just watched, and relying purely one the one-sided ass kickery, two spring to mind.
50.Cal Salvation from the really rather good Rambo. That? That my fellow Nerds is the closest I’ve seen to a Marine opening up with his Bolter. Every hit a kill. People ripped in half in a welter of gore. And those rounds aren’t even mass reactive! Jut really, really big.
Church Massacre from Kingsman. The closest approximation of a Callidus or Eversor getting the toys out, and doing their job.
Sure. Neither quite encapsulates the true horror. But they’re as close as we’re likely to get if a film actually wants a rating.
But what about you, Dakkanauts?
And as long as isn’t. pr0n, anything goes. But if it’s not PG-13, maybe not post a video. Because that might just be avoidable arseache for the Mods

Neat scene, but it didn't feel very 40k to me. Too much compassion, cohesion and competence. Plus their lasguns actually killed people.
For a very 40K scene, I'd go with Thor 2, and the dark eldar showing up in a necron landing craft and gunning down idiots with power swords and storm shields, with the bonus of ridiculously overpowered grenades that most of them aren't using.
It was so 40k, I was actually a little surprised it didn't generate a lawsuit.
Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Whilst a subject for a whole thread of its own, I fear you underestimate the humble Lasgun. Against human equivalents (as in, most of the foes the IG will face), it’s very efficient.
It only sucks when it’s deployed against forces designed to make the most common gun in the galaxy more than a wee pants!
For your common or garden variety heretic or Xenos Scum, it’s an absolute scourge!

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Most of the scenes from Mad Max Fury Road would be an accurate depiction of an Ork WAAAGH! on the move.

Event Horizon could easily be slotted into the canon as mankind's first experiments with warp travel, before the invention of both the Geller field and navigators.

Decent shout out, but I've always seen them more like Dark Eldar Haemonculi rather than Slaanesh daemons. They have nearly identical aesthetics and even use puzzle boxes and alt dimensions (webway). And considering Aeldari created Slaanesh with this kind of debauchery/tourture, I can see how someone could confuse the two.

Robocop, the original franchise, reminds me of a power armoured bad-ass with cybernetic upgrades. Plus the social commentary kind of rings bells.
Starship Troopers is Guardsmen vs Nids. Totally.
In terms of tone... V for Vendetta. Except the good guys win.
That’s all I can think of.
Edit: Enemy at the Gates, with Jude Law! Commissars shooting the retreating “Guardsmen”... under-equipped grunts being expected to do the impossible.
This post is 100% win.
Also the scenes in 5th element with the Mangalores. Totally 2nd ed orks.

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

That Brad Pitt WWII movie Fury had a pretty kickass scene early on with a bunch of allied tanks just blowing the crap out of stuff. Made me think that's what Imperial Guard must look like.

The movie "Chronicles of Riddick' reeked of 40k imagery and atmosphere. The whole necromonger thing was like some xxxxed up weird chaos cultist army, the underverse? Sounded like the warp to me.
