Can a fire Prism shoot twice in the first turn? I played this weekend and my opponent read it as saying no it cannot in turn 1 because it reads as next fire so I had to wait to turn 2?
It did not move either so I was under half movement and within the 2 x fire rule. However, I had to wait till my turn 2 to shoot 2x? Clarification would be great.

Thanks

It can as long as it "moves under half speed in its Movement phase (i.e. it moves a distance in inches less than half of its current Move characteristic) it can shoot its prism cannon twice..." P 105 craftworlds Dex

"It can fire it's cannon twice in the next shooting phase"

How do you explain it's the not the next shooting phase?
He would not let me fire it in turn one because it said that?

Because that rule is saying that as long as you move half speed, you can fire in the next shooting phase. The current phase that it's talking about then is the movement phase. The next shooting phase is the shooting phase immediately after the current movement phase.

How is it not the next shooting phase?

You have your movement phase, then you have the shooting phase. That shooting phase is "its next shooting phase" after that movement phase.

Read 'The Battle Round' on page 176 of the main rulebook. Note that the Movement phase is the first phase of the Battle Round while the Shooting phase is the third phase of the Battle Round. Therefore the '... next Shooting phase...' occurs in the same Battle Round in which the Fire Prism moved under half speed in its Movement phase.

I can kind of see the confusion if you think of it in terms of "next Tuesday". If it's Monday and you say something will happen "next Tuesday", in a lot of English dialects this will mean "Tuesday next week", not "tomorrow".

But that's not what this rule means. It clearly means "the following Shooting phase".

Cheers!
