Read the rulebook (and errata)? It clearly explains how many CP you start with and how many CP each detachment takes. Rulebook Errata: https://whc-cdn.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/warhammer_40000_rulebook_en.pdf Page 242 explains how Battle-forged armies work, you specifically want paragraph 2 under the heading "Command Points".

I agree with the reaction, but it's not really a YMDC question unless there's a point of contention you have that is not clear?
I mean the straight answer is either 11 or 14 depending if you are battleforged

Teach a man to fish. BCB's bedside manner is a little lacking, but I agree with the sentiment.
Plus, it helps when you roll up to a game and say you have X command points, and your opponent questions you. If we just told you "14", then you'd have trouble explaining to your opponent why.
