Hi,

Friend of mine is getting into AoS with the new Gobbo release, and a few other friends have some version of AoS armies kicking about. I've never had much interest, but as the winds appear to be going in that direction I figure I could always give it a go. I've collected a fair amount of Fantasy stuff over the years, mainly for Warhammer Quest (which is why you'll see strange things like Chaos Warriors or Beastmen in groups of 6 or 12), and it seems to coalescing into something resembling an army. I think.

Thing is, I have no idea what I can even make as an army, so I figured I'd list the Fantasy/AoS miniatures that I have and you fine folks might be able to point me in the right direction. Any help would be fantastic.

I have the following (anything with a * next to it is unbuilt):

So to my eye it looks like you've got a little bit of everything Chaos with a focus on Nurgle Tzeentch and Khorne.
Tzeentch or Nurgle might be your best starting points as each of those Gods has its own Battletome that is modern and up to date. Khorne has a tome too though its considered a little behind (I'm honestly not sure if this means its an older one with few to no alligence abilities and such or just not on the power curve at present).

Slaanesh hasn't got a Battletome, though is getting some attention "soon" we all hope (after Wrather and Rapture). You do have some of the metal classic Deamonettes, but you're also missing a lot so you'd have to add quite a bit to make them work at higher points values.

You have the startings of a Beasts of Chaos force (who share some Tzeentch units so there is some crossover there) and they do have a Battletome.

Skaven likely needs more rats, but there's rumblings that they are getting some attention soon in the form of a new duel box with Flesh Eater Courts which might well mean a brand new updated Skaven Battletome around the corner (many expect it to be like Goblins - 4 Rat Clans in one book able to go pure clan or go for a mix without any alliance restrictions).

So you've got loads of potential there and you could even do some mixed forces too. I don't play Chaos so I've only summarised the most simplistic and "pure" approaches to the army. I've also left out Slaves to Darkness as that's another "tome incoming" force, but its another potential.

Thanks for re-organising that. I've edited the original post to include it.

[EDIT]: The Gaunt Summoner on Disc isn't in the Tzeentch book. That's weird, isn't it?

That's because the gaunt summoner is part of the everchosen release. You can still play him as a disciple of tzeentch, since he has the required keywords.

I'm only skimming but it looks like you easily have enough models to build a reasonably sized Khorne, Nurgle, or Tzeentch force utilizing some of the generic chaos guys with only a little bit of additional building required.

Of the three I think Tzeentch is the most fun with its casting focus and fate dice mechanic (I think that's what it's called?) but of the three that might be the most trouble for you, as I don't really hear good things about the Kairic Acolytes.

I would go with something along these lines:

Allegiance: Nurgle

Leaders
Great Unclean One (340)
- General
- Bile Blade & Doomsday Bell
Gutrot Spume (140)
Lord of Afflictions (220)
Sorcerer (120)

Battleline
5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
30 x Plaguebearers (320)

Units
6 x Plague Drones (400)

Total: 1860 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 2
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 137

Add in what you like the best of either Lord of Blight, Lord of Plagues, an extra group of Plaguebearers for objective-sitting or some Endless spells if you decide to get those (Cogs perhaps)

It's fairly close to my own Maggotkin army, and pretty fun to play and looks great :-)
