Greetings Mortals ,

Recently i returned to painting miniatures after
a multi year sabatical.

I still have a ork starting box lying around,
so i started with a deff dread. (Still WIP though)
I'm aiming towards a rusted and weathered look.

I tried to accomplish this with a black primer,
base it with a mourn fang brown, multiple drybrushing
with lead belcher in various strengths, a nuln oil in between,
followed by a very soft drybrush of lead belcher,
and ended with a agrax earth shade in the cravices and
Such.

Now i was hoping to get some constructed criticism,
Some helpfull tips to improve my style, and perhaps
Other techniques to try out.

Thanks in advance!

For now it looks good, I don't know what you want to do with it now, maybe a layer of other colour. Try out then weathering technique with hair spray (if you are using airbrush or spray paints), this could give great results of chipping paint.

Thank you, i myself am quite happy with the results it yielded, even more since this is the first model i'm doing in over 2 years.

no i don't use an airbrush actually, just brushes.
i do would like to try it out someday.

anyhow, i'm planning to further assembling the model, try to make some battle damage and whotnot and finishing with some more subtle shades here and there, and highlighting details.
that's just the plan i have, but i rarely stick with the plan so we'll see where it goes.

I'll keep this updated.

FWIW, WIPs go in the P&M Blogs and you'll probably get more responses there. I suspect a modmin will move this to that subforum shortly.

It's quite hard to make out any real details from those pics, honestly, but I would advise that you apply a rusty-coloured wash sparingly on and around rivets, corners etc. to really sell the idea.

Yeah i haven't gotten to the point of highlighting yet, but i'll take your advice to heart when i get there.

The pics ain't exactly art, but it'll make do.
Sadly allot of my stuff from before is either gone or repurposed.

Near Jupiter.

Looks awesome already, you probably already know this, but if you do some reasonably thick lines of rust on top of ledges etc that adds alot to the "ware" effect. So like between all the crevices give it a good "line" of rust color... Not sure if this makes sence.

Thank you kindly, its very motivating to see it's progress

Yes i had that in mind, and it actually does makes sense to me.
Nevertheless, thank you for your advise.

I'll keep it updated.
