I live in the mountains of northern Calif - so much so we have bears coming through town most summer nights (Korvessa = "in the wilderness")
So I am mostly solo or with one of my boys - so I proxy a lot. For example, I have a bunch of old Ral Partha Landsknechts that fit the Empire bill quite well.
We also like to try different combinations. My son is typically Chaos Warriors, so I need stuff that penetrates armor.
Sometimes I pick units/characters just because they are fun or I like the model over whether or not there is a better choice.
In our last game (3000 points) I had:
General on Gryphon
Battle standard on barded horse
Wizard
2 x Engineers (one for each cannon)
3 Demigryph Knights
16 Inner Circle knights
30 handgunners
5 pistoliers
2 x 5 Outriders
steam tank
great cannon
Hellblaster Volley Gun

My next battle will be an Empire-Kislev alliance v Dwarfs

Nice! Yeah my play group does a good bit of proxying. We just got started 2 years or so ago. Shame you aren’t more southern Cali we could maybe get a game in.
