I am not from the New England region, nor am I from Los Angeles. As a local Seattle boy and true Seahawks fan, I do have an opinion on the outcome.

Spoiler:

Enjoy the game, folks.

3 - 3 in the fourth quarter! I don't know what to think, but I've actually enjoyed the game so far (and Tony Romo in the announcers booth has actually had some great insights on what's been stymieing both QBs).

Edit: And Pats did it! Clutch drive at the end. Gotta feel good for them, pretty touching seeing Brady fight off all the reporters at the end to hug his receivers and coach. Dynasty.

But Edelman Better win MVP

Had it been any other announcer duo, I’d have turned it off before the last field goal.

Tony Romo’s enthusiasm and prophetic knowledge kept me in. Or at least made the game interesting noise while I did some painting and e-bay posting.

Lowest scoring Super Bowl ever at 13 points (combined). The previous record of 21 points (combined) was set by the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Redskins 46 years ago.

Felt very blah. Best commercial I saw was the Amazon one with Harrison Ford. Where were the Doritos commercials?!

Another Super Bowl win - I'll take it!

Always interesting when the experts - and maybe just about everyone else! - are wrong, and we get a mostly sort of defense game!

And in this day and age, in the NFL of 2018/19 - to get a 13-3 game?

Wow!

We really are a bit spoiled up here in New England - never thought I'd see 6 Super Bowl victories (never mind 9 appearances!) and 4 World Series Championships too!

New England really did beat LA this season - but don't feel too bad for them out there - they really don't care, for the most part!

Alas, my preferred team (giant meteor annihilating the stadium and both teams) didn't win, so maybe at least Brady will finally decide to end on a "good" note and retire? And hey, the rams lost in humiliating fashion, and the rams.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I think Brady probably has 2 more years left in him?

Definitely one, next year.

Who knows?

It has to end soon though...

I wish he’d leave. Brady is a crybaby. I just wish the other teams figured out the same strategy the Giants did last time they met him in the Super Bowl; make him eat dirt, and the Patriots lose. I would actually not hate the Patriots if he left. As it is, I would root for any team playing against them; even the Felons. Er, I mean Cowboys.

I think your analysis there is about 10 years behind. If you watch the Patriots enough, you can see the dirty little secret. Which is that Brady is clearly diminished as a downfield passer, and the Pats' staff does a great job putting him in situations where he can best succeed.

The Pats of 10 years ago had Brady chucking the ball all over the place and down the field, so a strong pass rush made sense then as a counter. This Pats team relies heavily on its running game and play action passing, both of which take the pass rush out of play. Then they mix in all that traditional dink and dunk passing, which Brady still gets out too fast for your pass rush to consistently get there. You beat this Pats team by stopping the run and forcing them into 3rd and longs as much as possible. I was at the Steelers-Pats game, and it was interesting to see how the defense played him. Brady can certainly still make plays, but the fear wasn't there like it used to be.

The Rams' defense did a good job anyway...it was their offensive effort that was shameful. No defense could hold up forever with an offense that poor. It looked like Goff and McVay were both pooping their pants out there last night. Embarrassing stuff. Their offensive line definitely offended me too. I don't know how you can look that unready to play in the SB.

I agree, gorgon - and that first throw of the game kind of encapsulated what he can't do anymore, and hence they aren't usually asking him to try to do those things.

Despite that, he's still better than the vast majority of QBs out there, even with diminished arm strength. He figures defenses out as the game progresses, and once he does, becomes almost unstoppable. On their touchdown drive they ran the same play 3 times in a row, he just targeted different receivers each time!

Before he figures out the D, though, he is showing his age. Not like, end of career Peyton (who also won a SB playing like a wily veteran behind a strong D), but I don't think he'll look good beyond next season.

Still, he's earned a victory lap, and even if his arm Does get as weak as Peyton's did (and it might not, he's a health maniac) then he'll still be pretty darn good. Definitely the Goat, coach and QB... and I say this as a Ravens fan

@RiTides - I'm not taking anything away from him, really. He's like a coach on the field out there. Better even. Imagine spending that many years in basically the same offense. It's crazy he can play at the level he does at his age.

It's just that people who don't watch the game closely think he's the same guy he was 10 years ago, and it's not even close. That guy could gunsling with the best of them. This guy is like the greatest "game manager" QB you've ever seen.

Oh, I agree! I feel the same way - he's incredible at managing games now, and making the right play to beat the defense, despite not having the arm he had before. You just described that a lot more eloquently, though

Whatever it takes at this point, really.

He's basically had two hall of fame careers, if you split his NFL time down the middle.

It's pretty amazing, to win three of the last five Super Bowls at what is surely the end(ish) of his time, after having won three out four at the start of his career - some 17 years ago?

Amazing, especially in the modern salary cap free agent era NFL, where this type of run is absolutely not supposed to happen.

Who knows if we'll ever see something like this again?

Probably not...

Yeah, I will grudgingly admit that Brady is one of the best QBs of all time.

The real issue for the Patriots is that once Brady does go, they're utterly screwed. Its just a team of average players who are very good working around Brady. Once they no longer have him, they're not going to do well at all. And their draft picks are going to suck for decades because of their success.

The Patriots are a 1 man band. Once the lead leaves they can't do much with only the backup dancers. They've put all their eggs in Brady's basket, that will only be around a few more years at most.

Frankly, on a personal level he should retire before he suffers a major injury. At his age, he is really playing with fire each time he goes out there. One strong sack and he could have major health problems for the rest of his life. At least more than he'll have just from being a football players in general. He could end up with a really bad spinal or knee injury.

Er...maybe?

Brady is a fantastic quarterback, but...you *might* be able to find someone to plug in there when he's finally done.

The bigger problem will be when Belichick retires - his 'system' and his ability to get the most out of 'everyday' players is phenomenal, his legendary (and perhaps slightly exaggerated) game-planning is something else, and his ability to work with the salary cap combine to create a near 20 year force to be reckoned with - but only IF you've got that special QB too of course.

But then, it isn't really like just about any team wouldn't be screwed once their star QB is down/gone.

That's the NFL!

That one stung. People pushed for it to be included due to the main creator of Spongebob dying, and to raise awareness for ALS.

The bait and switch (including the mentions of looking to include it beforehand) was worse than just leaving it out entirely would have been.

Yeah, the halftime show was pretty blah. And was it just me, or were the commercials crap this year? The only entertaining one was the Harrison Ford/Alexa one where his dog orders a ton of food.

The one with all the NFL stars past and present was my favorite. Twilight Zone teaser as well.

I saw that alot of big companies hedged their bets this year and didn’t open up their pockets for advertising this year, for various reasons.

Well, looks like Patriots owner Robert Kraft got caught celebrating his teams win:

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is among a list of people who have been named as having been involved in a sex trafficking sting in Florida.

Police in Jupiter, Fla., held a press conference on Friday to reveal that there is video evidence of sex trafficking activity taking place at a business called Orchids Day Spa. According to investigators, Kraft was one of the people who was driven to the spa and engaged in illegal sexual activity.

MORE on Robert Kraft case: Police say he was driven to Orchid Day Spa in Jupiter where detectives say the illegal sexual activity took place. Investigators confirm there is video of each of these listed men engaged in sexual acts inside that spa.

Investigators say Kraft was caught on video on two separate occasions. He has been charged with soliciting another to commit prostitution.

Kraft is viewed as one of the most respected and influential team owners in sports, so this is uncharted territory for the 77-year-old. While there have certainly been some disturbing legal issues with the Patriots organization over the years, Kraft’s reputation has taken very few hits. The reaction to the allegations against him that surfaced on Friday will be something to watch.

Innocent until proven guilty and all that, but dudes a billionaire and doesn't have a more discrete option available to him? Thats kind of why I was skeptical at first sight of the headline, but if there truly is video evidence, its pretty damning. Wonder what will happen to him, in regards to ownership and such.

I can't believe this was the top news story today. I'm not a sports guy, but is this really that huge?

Also, I don't think prostitution should be illegal*, so maybe that colors my opinion a bit.

I have no idea what the charges are about, I didn't read any of the stories. My *comment was a codicil to saying that I think prostitution between consenting adults should be legal as a rule, I wanted to make sure that didn't include victims of trafficking and so on.

R Kelly got charged today (again), and that feels like a way bigger story. Why do people care so much about this sports guy? This is an honest question, I don't get it.
