I have my first 3 Dragon Ogors with the war-glaives. Making my next 6 for the Stormherd. Is it viable to have the paired weapons? I was thinking afterall they get 1/3 more attacks but only 1/6 less chance of penetrating armor, but also only 1" range. Seems like plenty of armies have either ignore rend stuff or just plain crappy armor. The paired weapons also reroll 1s to hit, which is handy should they wander away from the Shaggoth or if he dies. Or should I stick with all war-glaives? They all look cool.

How about those draconic crushers though? Only 3 attacks and 1" range but 2 damage.....really seems not good actually. If it still had rend-1 or did 3 damage, then I think I'd make a unit of those.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on the Thunderscorn weapons?

Folks have been asking this question since the book came out. Thats not a knock on you, though, as it can appear tough to decide.

I don’t think any choice is the wrong choice for how you equip your Dragon Ogors. There are circumstances where one can shine over the others, such as being near a Shaggoth or BoC wizard (Storm Rage ability or Summon Lightning, Sundering Blades, Wild Rampage spells) or being the recipient of the Gavespawns Command Ability, but by and large, they all seem to get the job done, with Glaives seeming to be the most consistent.

The weapon choice would probably be easier if the Dragon Ogors weren’t as decently durable (5 wounds, 4+ save, multiple ways to heal) as they are.

Once I get around to bulking out my Dragon Ogors, I’ll probably finally venture into using magnets, just so I can specialize if I need to, depending on what I’m facing.

Thanks! I don't feel unreasonably indecisive now. Rule of cool then, and all the different weapons will make the units identifiable now....magnets for the glaives vs crushers is a good move though!

One thing I have notice is that they appear to be able to have mixed weapons in a squad. When I get around to building mine, I plan on giving 2 of them paired blade and one of them a glaive.

To those that say there is no stupid questions I say, "Is this a stupid question?"

Yup, a mix is definitely the way forward, especially if you move on to bigger units. I run 2 units of 6 Dragon Ogors at 2k and both have 4 crushers and 2 Glaives. Running Grave spawn, so crushers are better in case they get buffed, but with such large bases, the 2-inch range on some of them is invaluable.

Interesting, I didn't think they could have mixed weapons. The crushers at first didn't seem good at all, but with those extra attacks they have more potential damage output than the double-weapons. Putting them in a Brass Despoilers Khorne army might be good too, with Wrathmongers and a Bloodsecrator in range, that's 5 attacks each!
