Biggest offshore wind farm to start UK supply this week

The Hornsea One field will be the biggest in the world when completed this year.

It's the first of four planned wind farms in the same area of the North Sea, and will power more than a million homes.

Hanoi, Vietnam.

Nah. What they need is rain power. The moment someone invents a rainpower plant is the moment the British Empire returns to all its mighty glory.

Just a shame we decided to waste yet another energy opportunity. No sovereign wealth fun from oil, and now a total lack of interest in renewables investment means companies from other countries are the ones building and installing wind turbines to our cost rather than our benefit.

Don't get me wrong, more renewables is objectively a good thing, it just would have been nice to have also reaped the economic benefits. Crikey think how many jobs could have been saved on the Clyde if there had been funding and a plan to shift all those skilled marine fabricators and engineers over to turbine production.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Yep.

Plus, the government is spending a fortune on nuclear power to be developed by French and Japanese companies.
