Trigger-Happy Baal Predator Pilot

Hi all, I've got a game tonight against my mate's Ad Mech (graia?) and IK(raven). I've not been having much luck against him recently and got totally annihilated after my last battle with him. Granted I acknowledge a lot of my mistakes in my last few games that have cost me big. In an attempt to rectify this after our last game we sat and had a chat about my army and have tried a few change's.
Before I had pretty much an all out assault based list with load's of tooled up DC and SG built around Astorath and Lemartes and SG ancient with a core of primaris intercessors. Needless to say that in the shooting game 8th is the list's I tried did not work well at all.
He has double battalion which also has 2 kastellan robot's, 2 dune crawler's, 2 Armiger warglaives and a Dominus Valliant?, the one with the spear and flamer. We have only just gone to 2k with these game's so he can get his knight used because it is a lovely model.
So here we are with a new combined arms type force now including a bit of a gunline, and a bit less assault, based around the same core. My mate suggested that I had been relying too much on the relic banner and it was forcing me in to a clump all the time so I've decided to drop it for a few games in order to try and see who it's best going along with instead of trying to cram as much into the FnP aura as I could.
It's a battalion and a vanguard detachment giving 9 VP's. I'm not sure on warlord yet. Or if this is enough AT to take on quite a few tank's and knight's.

Jump Captain : TH+SS,
Librarian Dreadnought: SB

Intercessors(6): Bolt rifle, AGL, Power sword,
Intercessors(6): Bolt rifle, AGL, Power sword,
Intercessors(6): Bolt rifle, AGL, Chain sword,

Lemartes,
15 Jump DC: Bolters, Chain sword.
7 SG: PF, AB,
Sanguinary novitiate,

Devastator Squad(6): 4xLC, cherub,
Razorback: TLLC,
Razorback: TLAC,
Storm Raven: TLLC, TLMM, 2xSSML

So currently I'm aiming for the dev's and priest sitting on a home objective or in cover with maybe a squad of intercessors providing support along with the LC RB. The Libby dread and the remaining intercessor's advancing up along with the other RB to provide some firepower. The rest go in reserve and the SR act's a a fast tank and really that's about it for a basic game plan.

Any suggestion's, hint's, observation's and suggested changes would be very much appreciated. Particularly on warlord as I'm not keen on Slambo being WL. I'm thinking the priest or the Dread? And if so what WL trait would anyone suggest for either? Another couple of question's...
Should I put a HB in the dev's? I've not had any luck with that strat.
Also should I reduce the Intercessor's and dev's back to 5 and have more SG?
Anyone tried the apothecary. My mate doesn't have one and is really wanting to see one used?
Cheers, K

If you're worried about AT then you could put some TH on the death company and plasma pistols on SG. Personally I like scouts instead of intercessors so you can spend more on other units. I'm can't help you with the other units because I don't really have experience using them.

I agree - intercessors are great, but expensive. I like to keep 1 squad, and 2 scout squads. That frees up almost 60pts right there.

The Stormraven is a bit of a personal preference thing - I have never used one, and I really want to experiment with how it works for getting the Libby Dread down the table. But if you got rid of it, and swapped out for scouts as recommended, you could fit 2 tri-las predators into this list. Thats a lot of anti-tank that, if you use the terrain right, can last a while. Turn one of those razorbacks into another Pred, and you can use the Killshot strat (I know that gets various amounts of love on this forum, but it has a lot of uses).

Never underestimate the power of a Libby Dread. With Quickening and Wings of Sanguinious. That gives him a 16" move and lets him FLY. Add the Red Rampage strat, and you have between 5-9 attacks, each doing -4AP and flat 3 DMG. Make him your warlord, and that that can go to flat 4 DMG for every hit.
Against a 3+ invun, Str 8 (Like a Knight using Ion Shields), thats 4-8 points of damage on average. Without Ion Shields, that's 8-16 pts of Damage. If a unit has no Invun save, you are dealing 13-24 pts of Damage! 'Nuff Said.
(Side Note: my Libby Dread is named Brother Miley..... because he comes in like a wrecking ball )

I like Devestators on small point lists, but in a 2000pt game there are too many things that can spare a few shots their way, and they are very squishy. Put your anti-tank in something stronger, with more wounds/toughness (like Preds, see above).

I've never used a Sanguinary Priest (our version of Apothacary), but I want to. The Sanguinary Noviate is an Elite choice for like 63pts - a worthwhile if you have a lot of infantry. I chose instead for a techmarine on bike to support my Preds, but either way is legit.

Hope that helps!
