Since Google+ is dead, I thought I'd find someplace else to share my blog posts. So I'll regularly update this thread with new link to AARs, painting updates, and other articles as they come out.

This week, Reinhard's Rangers face off against the Carnival of Chaos in the ruins of Mordheim!

Good idea. I was wondering how to do this after the death of Google+ as well.

I was trying to figure out if it should go under the P&M Blogs ares, but since most of my posts are AARs, I decided to put them down here.

Maybe Dakka could introduce a new section for blog updates?

Anyway, the Rangers are back again on the streets of Mordheim. A new warband of Middenheimers have entered the city and are ready to be turned into pincushions!

This week I'm reviewing the newest supplement for SAGA - the Book of Battles.

One of the problems I had with the new edition of SAGA was the single scenario that was included in the main rulebook. The Book of Battles solves this problem with five different styles of play, can be used for any of the Ages, and is relatively cheap.

While conventions and shows are great places to meet up with fellow hobbyists and play games, everyone know's the best part is being able to buy more stuff! Here's a look at my loot pile from Cold Wars 2019.

The first battle report from the Cold Wars 2019 Warmaster Revolution tournament is up.

The mercenary Dogs of War face off against the bone-dry Tomb Kings!

Good stuff. Asked on the blog, but for completeness I will ask here as well.

I am not familiar with Dogs of War at the Warmaster scale. How do they handle Regiments of Renown?

As I said on the blog, there isn't. If I remember the way the "scale" in Warmaster work, two brigades fighting is equivalent to a 2000 point WHFB game. So there's not a lot of detail for individual units at this level.

What some players do is have units with special miniatures and give them magic weapons like the Battle Banner or Sword of Might to give them some unique qualities.

It's the first painting update I've had in a little while. This one features a Mordheim warband and my Dogs of War army for Warmaster.

Also, this is my first painting update with a lightbox! Please let me know if it makes a difference.

This week's main post is part two of the Cold Wars 2019 Warmaster Revolution tournament. My Dogs of War found themselves staring down a tide of Skaven!

We've reached the last of the Warmaster tournament posts! My last game was against Kal and his Dark Elves, who I had played against last year with my Ogre Kingdoms army.

Thanks for reading!

Now that the Warmaster posts are out of the way, I've got a variety of games coming up: For King & Parliament, Chain of Command, Carnevale, and Red Book of the Elf King.

For KIng and Parliament looked like it used cards in some way. I would be interested in reading a bit more about how the card mechanics work.

Like To The Strongest! (the original game meant for Ancients & Medieval gaming), the cards in FK&P are meant to activate units and fight combats. You take two decks, remove the face cards, and combine them together. You then use the cards over the course of your turn to active units (usually on a 2+). You can then activate them again, but you'll have to score higher than the original draw. Combat is just trying to draw higher cards than the score you need to either hit or save.

And you'll see in the AAR that cards are just like dice, and sometimes fail you completely!

I'm back again with one of the two participation games I played at Cold Wars! This was the Battle of Montgomery in 1644, during the English Civil War. We were using For King & Parliament as the ruleset.

Could the Parliamentarian commanders (including me) recreate history and see off the Royalists?

Plus, there are tons of rulesets for this period, so that new army you got can be used in lots of different games.

Very true!

I'm thinking of trying to get some people together for some sort of Imagi-Nation campaign - the Rending of Albion, or something to that effect.

End of the week update! I played a game of Red Book of the Elf King last night, both to re-familiarize myself with the rules for an upcoming club game, and because it's damn fun to play.

We've finally reached the end of the Cold Wars posts!

I've always wanted to at least try playing Chain of Command from TooFatLardies, since I've seen both a lot of praise and condemnation for the ruleset. I finally had the chance at Cold Wars with a game set during the Winter War, with the Finns attacking a Russian position across deep snow.

I have read a lot of great Chain of Command AARs and the pre-game scouting for jump off points is brilliant. However, it seems very token heavy for what you get.

I loved the Finnish models on skis.

Yes, like I said in the blog, the game seemed a little too detailed for what it's trying to do. And all the models were great, but the Finns on skis stood out for sure.

While I was back up in PA for Cold Wars, I met up with a gaming buddy and finally got Carnevale on the table. Having backed the kickstarter in 2017 and recently recieved my pledge (the two player starter and most of the Guild miniatures), I was looking forward to trying out what appeared to be a miniatures game version of Assassin's Creed meets Call of Cthulhu with a little Malifaux for spice. I wasn't disappointed!

At this month's SJGA meeting, I played a game of To the Strongest!, recreating the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, where the Byzantine Empire fought against the Seljuk Empire.

It was a 3v3 game, and the gamemaster had a nasty surprise in store for the Byzantines!

I also snuck in a quick Blood Bowl report last week as well.

It's been a little while since I've updated the thread, but I've been busy over on the blog. I went to a Blood Bowl tournament, posted some painted miniatures, and played a game of Carnevale!

It was the Guild versus the Doctors in the streets of Venice for a quick game with a visiting friend.

Commenting on old posts... I absolutely love the Warmaster content. The wife and I are working on our first armies now and eagerly consume anything we can find on the game, which is sadly very little.

And yeah, I'm really glad to have picked up Warmaster. I'm a big fan of the Old World, and the new Revolution version of the rules makes for some great games.

New post! I was back up in PA this past weekend and played a couple games with an old gaming buddy.

The first was our first outing of Muskets & Tomahawks, with my miniatures finally finished!
