I had a fully assembled heldrake i was holding about 5 feet from the ground suddenly become unstable in my hands, i tried to gain control of it to stop it from falling out of my hands, in the process i smashed all the wings off and the whole thing fell to peices on the floor. It only smashed at the glued joints, and not one single of the 6 wires streaming from behind the heldrake broke, also nothing at all broke. I cant believe it, thank you GW for the excellent quality plastic. ( Google heldrake and look how fragile those wires are coming from the back ).

That was a scary experience.

I feel you on this, I dropped my redemptor while carrying it from case to gaming table. it broke cleanly in two. I said the same thing, thank you GW.

now I wish I could say the same for other models i broken from other brands. Everything else that's been dropped has exploded into a million pieces. never to be whole again.

Lol, when it happened the thought went through my mind " it actually happened... it has come true" Because i always knew that i had to be so careful with them since there fragile as heck. But then i reviewed it and was like oh my gosh.... some ones looking out for me loool.

My dog once ate my dreadnoughts leg. So now I have to put it on the base and I made a pile of bowser wood, to look like rubble, and it was w\lking through it. It isn't pretty, but its usable.

I'm dyslexic and thus am bad at spelling and grammar please don't remind me in comments to my posts.

The flesh tearers really like killing so much. In fact they may love it more than inquisitors.

Damn. But man, for me it was like this. When i first got the drakes i said, i am not going to ever break any thing on this very fragile looking model, and i thought to my self....I dont know how realistic that is with how fragile it is long term. Then the thing explodes in my hand all at once and falls on the floor... holy gak that was nuts....

Sorry for your story man, but good on you for utilizing the damage.

When I painted my son's Heldrake a few years back, I handed it over to him when I was done so he could attach it to the base. As you can guess, it fell to the floor.

And bounced. Nothing broke, nothing came off. I was shocked.

On the other hand, I've got a half-dozen Grenadier metal dragons that have literally fallen apart at a friend's touch (and only his touch, for some reason). I suspect they are so fragile as I wasn't aware that it's common to pin such large models to prevent that from happening. They're all in storage now (they've more or less been replaced with prepainted plastics) , so I've never bothered to tackle trying to pin them.

It never ends well

Nu-Plastic from GW is magical. 90% of the time you can chuck a new plastic marine across a room and not have it break.

Hm what was step 2

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

My Ork Deff Dreads are metal - when I drop one, the floor breaks.

Crazy. I had a knight paladin that fell. Broke at the plate on top of the hips, the gun barrel, tilt shield and a shoulder pad, all where the glue was used. I was very relieved to say the least

One of the things I appreciate with Citadel models is, for the most part, they design them to be used for war gaming so they are built a little more robust than usual model kits. A very important feature that occasionally other manufacturers forget. Certainly, some of their more modern kits on't follow this having very thin and spindly parts, but for the most part they are solid enough.

I also like the fact that many Citadel models seem to be designed to be quite easy to paint. The exaggerated nature of nearly everything make it all so much easier to make them look better than the actual skill of the painter. I know I am a little surprised how well my 40k stuff turns out compared to most of my other miniatures gaming stuff.

It probably has a lot to do with the complex cuts/joints the more modern GW kits are designed in. The clean, straight, linear joints of yesteryear are now complex, jagged joints running in three dimensional squiggles. These are going to be much more resistant to clean breaks and parts snapping off.

Yeah, well i'm so relieved. But i will now be transporting the heldrakes in a steel cage, nailed to the center, with electrical wire etc etc.

I dropped a metal griffin model (the old Eltharion miniature) down a flight of stairs once, with no noticeable damage. If fumbling a plastic model in your hands results in it coming apart at the joints, then it wasn't assembled properly.

The other day I accidentally swept a Mistweaver Saih off of my coffee table. Thing flew eight or nine feet accross the room, bounced off a wardrobe and skipped across the floor a couple of times. Totally fine! Not a thing out of place, and that thing is spindly as feth!
