Hello

Whats the best way to get rid of dry tip? Ive been using my fingers but i dont think thats the optimal as i think you push a bit of the paint into the outlet and also can snag the tip on your skin and bend it (happened to me)
Ive tried using cotton buts but similiar problem of snagging/catching the tip od the needle.

The vid i looked at and research seems to suggest the above as go to. Maybe im being to rough with it..? Any tips?

Also any tips on cleaning out the gunk fromt he inside of te O-ring outlet? The clenaing brushes I have are not small/thin enough to fit in there. Suppsoe could use a redundant needle to scrape that gunk out ?

Thanks in advance

I always use a soft toothbrush to remove any dry tip but it doesn’t happen too often, are you using flow improver or similar retarder with your mix?

In terms of cleaning grab some active foaming spray airbrush cleaner and have a good spray through the nozzle at the end of your session and rinse.

I also have a habit of leaving my airbrush to soak in a shot glass of airbrush cleaner between colours etc.

I wouldn’t go scraping as you could damage the functionality.

Agree. Flo improver and a medium to soft wet tooth brush. If you’re using Flo improver and you think you’re using enough use more. I also add half as many drops of water to my paint. 2:1

I bought the SharpenAir needle dodad. Has saved my ass...needle a few times.

I don't use the tip guards on my airbrushes, to allow easy access to the needle tip. I pick the paint off with two fingers, relying on the friction between the gloves and the dried paint.

Typically, tip dry happens to me with white primer or paint with white pigment in it. I don't like messing with the consistency of these paints, since they are generally a bit fiddly to apply anyway. Adding flow improver obviously adds more fluid to the paint/medium mix in the cup, reducing the coverage while keeping the spray volume constant at a given needle size and pressure.

If you are plagued by clogs, I advise to have a good look at the needle size in your airbrush and the pressure you use it at. The needle may be too small and the pressure too low.

Naturally, needle size and pressure dictate how much material is sprayed when you pull the trigger, meaning that a bigger nozzle/needle and more pressure means you have to work faster to avoid flooding a surface with excess paint and may have to adjust the spray distance.

Different Airbrush manufacturers have different amounts of air volume control, which can make higher pressure unattractive, depending on how your airbrush is designed. On my H&S airbrushes, I'm able to control the pressure quite well, so I almost always have my compressure putting out 60 psi, which I reduce to two thirds or half if I do something more fiddly.

I have been working with flashgitz yellow and I was getting tip dry every couple bursts toward the end of the session.

Yes I do add a couple drops of flow aid into the cup before adding paint. I like the tooth brush suggestion. Ill try that next time.

The needle size is fine, it doesn't happen with every application. Just certain paints seem to be worse than other(yellow as mentioned for example)

Does anyone use an ultra sonic cleaner ?

I have considered soaking. But would soaking the brush in cleaner not potentially damage seals?

All this.

Basically nextlevelpainting stuff on twitch. I use Simple green though instead of airbursh claenr.
I make my own airbrush cleaner.

Toothbrush for tip dry. Flow improver helps. Dont use windex or alcohol in your mixtures as it accelerates the drying time (adds to the tip dry problem)
