Hello.
In the beginning I am sorry for my English but I can't speak this language very well.

I will take a part in tournament soon and I am thinking about my Rivendell army roster on 700 points. There will be three scenarios : 1 - Reconnoitre, 2 - A Clash by Moonlight, 3 - Contest Of Champion.

And here is my question. What should I take?
I have got models from list below:
- Elrond foot/mtd
- GilGalad foot
- Glorfindel foot
- Arwen foot/mtd
- Cirdan foot
- Lindir foot
- Gandalf The Grey foot
- Saruman The White foot
- 35 High Elves ( Spears, blades, bows)
- 12x Rivendell Knights

For more stuff I can ask my friends. Maybe they've got what I need for alliance or something..

Thanks a lot for your advice!

I find my Rivendell games revolve heavily around Wrath of Bruinen; elves are expensive and don't get that many fight dice, so knocking the enemy over before engaging/while fighting can make a huge difference. To that end Elrond (for Wrath) and Lindir (for extra Will) are invaluable. I usually put them both on horses (using a Rivendell Knight with the Captain head to proxy Lindir) to get Wrath where it needs to be and to make sure I can line it up so it won't hit any Heroes that can resist it.

You'll probably want another beatstick hero after that; Glorfindel and Gil-Galad are both strong options. Gil-Galad takes away your army bonus if you have Lindir as well but I don't find the Rivendell army bonus to be incredibly useful, and the Kingsguard are a nice thing to have.

At that point you've put 400-450pts into Heroes, which is enough, really. I tend to field 4-5 Knights to follow Elrond around doing some shooting, grabbing objectives, and whacking anyone who gets caught out of position or Wrathed; which leaves you room for ~12 Warriors and a banner to keep your other hero's flanks secure and do some killing. You care more about keeping formation than cheaper troops because you have so few models, so try to keep to an even mix of sword/shield and spear/shield.

The major weakness here is that you can't spread out a whole lot, and if you start getting into fights where you're outnumbered (especially with S4 troops; Uruks, Morannon Orcs, Iron Hills, etc.) you'll start losing models quickly. Stick together, use Wrath as much as possible, don't stand around in front of crossbows, and you should be able to do work.

(Addendum: This is not a comprehensive review of Rivendell as an army, this is what I do with them in a not particularly competitive setting. Reasonable people may have other opinions.)
