Hi Derek, You'd generally want heroes that have both surge and inspiring. (unless you do an undead army with little shambling, but seeing your collection I don't think so) Therefore you probably don't want army standards, but instead other heroes. a) I use necromancers a lot. @ 90 points, they are dirt cheap and with the amulet of inspiring the first one gains inspiring. Your army is a prime candidate for the army of darkness formation which gives another necromancer inspiring. b) revenant kings and liche kings make for good undead heroes too. Both are inspiring necromancer with higher defense stats and either melee stats (rev. king) or spellcasting stats (liche kings) . I know a lot of people use them, but I prefer the cheaper necromancers instead. Rev. kings usually are mounted, liche kings on foot. c) Vampires were once used a lot, but ever since they were nerfed to def 5+; I see them not a lot anymore. Ilona, however, especially with the new formation, is one of the rising stars of 2019. d) Pharaohs are used only with the wings of honeymaze special item. witout it, pharaohs suffer from slow movement. e) Of the three heroes with flying mounts (vampire/peg; vampire/dragon and revenant king on flying wyrm) I only use the revenant king on flying wyrm. (and I use it a lot.) If I want it with some more power, I upgrade it with the brew of sharpness; still cheaper than the vampire on dragon. This hero is only used with the wings upgrade, never without. Special place of honour for the new special character Apaphys who is an upgrade of the orginal for a few more points. f) Some people like Lycanis. I don't. g) Mhorgoth is an iconic character, but far too much of a point sink for competetive play.
