Pack of Lootas with a Spanner - https://www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Ork-Lootas-2018 (Dont Have burna boy stuff lost em)

1 Pack of Easy to build Ork Boyz - https://www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Easy-To-Build-Ork-Boyz-2018

Yes shootas have place. 2shots at bs5 is about same as 1 at ws3. Of course pistol left but big mobs you have often trouble fitting all to 12". Shootas have range. Especiallly good because you don't always want to shoot charge target least he removes closest models adding to charge range.

I prefer 20 choppa, 10 shoota or reverse with maybe full shoota mob for t1 da jump. Shoot 1 chaff, charge 1 or two more

How do you feel about converting? It's one of the best parts about playing orks and can really stretch a budget: a box of nobz can be transformed into five characters with a bit of kit bashing and some plasticard.

On that note, you'll want at least one more character so that you can run a battalion (and really, four is probably a better target for the double battalion). A big mek with shokk attack gun (using the vigilus detachment for the super version) is a good choice, as is a weirdboy or two. You can grab one of the Age of Sigmar Ironjaws shamans (or any of the older orc shamans) if you don't like the default one or want an alternate model. Converting a spare nob to have a staff and some weird bits and bobs works great, too. A big mek with kff (not the one in mega armor, the one from the index) is also a fine addition, though you'll have to hit up ebay for the now oop model or make one yourself with tech-y looking bits.

You probably will want some grots, no matter what type of lists you run, so a couple boxes of those wouldn't go amiss.

If you want to go with more boyz, I'd keep an eye on ebay for more Assault on Black Reach sets (or boyz). You can find them for pretty cheap if you're patient, and they're a great source for spare boyz (and maybe a couple of spare bosses). The nobz are okay, but aren't ideal as they're set up and would need some converting to be more competitive (a unit armed mostly with two choppas (so no pistols) and a few big choppas/klaws is perfectly usable). The koptas are fine for filling out a brigade as cheap fast attack choices (and can do work in a Deathskulls list), but you're unlikely to want many of them.

Lootas are pretty good as a big blob that gets to shoot twice with the Bad Moons strategem, but that's a big chunk of a small list. You'd want another box or two of them to really maximize the pain, though you can pad the unit with all the big shoota armed boyz you just end up with (not technically correct, but I've never run into anyone who cares). Don't feel bad about losing the burna bits, though, they're pretty garbage right now.

If you don't want to convert or try ebay, my best guess as to a shopping list would be two boxes of grots, a big mek with shokk attack gun, and then an infantry unit of your choice (boyz or lootas). Another start collecting box and two boxes of grots with a bit of converting would also be a good option, as that'll give you another dread, some boys and then as many characters as you feel like converting.

I like the idea of converting. Seems like alot of fun. I have boxes of bits from SM IG and Necrons. Tons. I can see turning some of the Vanilla Nobz into Big Mekz. LUL.

I am going to add a group of shoota boyz @1 - 2 ratio. 20 choppa 10 shoota. I like the way it looks.

I may grab just a few set of grechin with the leader for variety. So i can do a double battalion.

What about mek guns for some heavy support? They look like fun.

All but the bubblechucka are valid. Smasha gun is best all around tool, KMK for some serious hurt vs T8 tough targets and traktor kannon vs -1/-2 to hit targets, especially flying vehicles.

HOWEVER they suffer from couple issues.

a) expensive as hell money wise. However since you like converting trukk box + some random bits(mainly for barrel) gives you 3 more chassis to use with mek gun bits so combine those 2 kits and you could get all 4. Or buy like 2 trukk's(6 chassis) and 3 mek guns(3 chassis + 9 good weapons) to give you 9 mek guns. 3 smasha gun, 3 traktor kannon, 3 kustom mega kannon
b) they are vehicles with low T, low save, 6 wounds in an army that often ends up swarm of infantry. No surprise where every single lascannon goes...Losing 3-4 in a turn isn't that unreasonable proposition if only vehicles you have are mek guns. Ergo you either bring LOTS of them(like dozen) or you bring other vehicles(battlewagons, deff dreads, gorkanauts), preferably with KFF for 5++, to overload enemy AT firepower. Infantry swarm with 3-4 mek guns will just give worthwhile targets for enemy AT fire thus making your list infact worse off.

You need a second model in the HQ slot, going from other detachments to Battalions is a huge deal. I suggest a weirdboy. Get the Weirdnob SHaman from AOS if you prefer plastic to finecrap (if you've never worked with finecrap I promise you prefer plastic to finecrap).

Otherwise ebay a metal weirdboy.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
