We'll find out soon enough eh.

As title. T9A is moving away from the WHFB background, from its aesthetic, from its racial templates. They're no longer making necessary minimum changes for supposed legal reasons(I remain unconvinced by the reasoning they present on that front, but regardless), they are trying to create their own game system with its own fictional setting and its own model ranges(via associated third parties). At this point, someone who wants to play a WHFB army that conforms to a WHFB faction using WHFB miniatures is scarcely better supported by T9A than they are by AoS - T9A's gameplay may remain somewhat closer to WHFB, but in both cases they are now playing a "legacy" force that will only be developed in terms of the game in a manner that moves away from what they already have.

Since T9A has clearly indicated that it's moving away from WHFB, it should be moved out of the WHFB forum to Misc. Other Miniature Games.

Good point. Agree entirely and I don’t feel its controversial at all, as it seems like moving away from WHFB is something they actively want.

With that said, would the move even matter? As barring the somewhat spammy “T9A: Malibu Beach Barbie Dwarves” image dump posts, there isn’t much activity in that subforum from T9A or legacy Warhams posters.

That's true, the way Dakka dealt with AoS' arrival by appropriating the WHF forums pretty much killed off WHFB on the site(bitter, moi? ), but there *is* an active WHFB community on social media that some of us have been trying to encourage back on to (IMO superior) forums, and I think that'd be an easier job with a "dead" forum than a "dead" forum that's filled with evangelism for another game.

Any thoughts on this mod peeps, or other posters with opinions on the subject?

We've been discussing this, but some more info on this all would be helpful.

What is this Ninth Age all? Is it a fan project? Or simply people keeping the Legacy format alive by using a previous edition rule set?

The initial pitch was essentially a fan-made WHFB 9th Edition, with non-trademarked names. So you still had Bretonnia, but they were called "Kingdom of Equitaine", the units were named differently etc, and there would be a lot of work by tournament bigwigs to make it "balanced".

In the years since, it's essentially become its own game. It's still based on WHFB mechanics, broadly speaking, but it's diverging, and their factions have now stopped being "not-[WHF army]" and are being redeveloped to fit the new bespoke background material they're creating, which includes radical aesthetic departures from WHF staples and lots of completely new stuff. They're putting together a range of models from third party providers(some existing stuff, like Avatars of War, some stuff being done specifically as "9th Age" compatible).

So basically, it's stopped being WHF in any meaningful sense.

Since it seems like 9th Age is most of what little activity in the WHFB sub-forum (the current posts being more than a dozen 9th age posts, a setting agnostic chaos dwarf post, 2 8th ed posts and a 6th ed post), it makes more sense just to convert that over to a 9th Age sub-forum and not bother with WHFB at all.

It would be easier just to adjust the title to reflect Classic Warhammer and 9th Age at the same time. Whilst 9th age is becoming its own thing its still heavily based on Warhammer Classic.

That said I'd guess the main issue is that neither of the two is really creating vast amounts of content - even the 9th age stuff isn't huge. So it doesn't seem to me to be a good time to split them when neither one is heavily dominating and pushing the other out. Perhaps in a year or two when, I would guess, 9thage is stronger and if it was dominating the section with active and regular threads and posts then it might be worth creating a split.

Of course one might argue that giving 9th its own space and titled section might in itself generate increased activity, focus and content.

feth it why not, they already kicked us out of our own forum once, might as well finish the job eh.

One might also argue that the same is true for WHF, since every person I've suggested the site to on social media looks at the forum and replies with some variation of "why bother, it'll just get drowned out by T9A evangelists". One might also also argue that maybe if the mods actually finished moving all the WHF content out of the forums they appropriated for AoS and didn't banish the WHF forum as far down the list as they possibly could, it wouldn't be in this state in the first place but hey ho.
