Hey guys!

Our little "gaming club" has been competing in tournaments for a couple of years now, and we're ready to lock down a club name long-term. Last year we had two teams in a team-tournament, we just named them after units in the lists and called them "Who Vindicares" and "You're Pasking for it". We almost went with "Crystal Meph" but Mephiston was removed from the lists at the last minute. This year we thought it was time to find something with a little more longevity, and went for "Souperior Tactics" (obviously a play on the Imperial/Chaos 'soup' going around). It's fine, no-one hates it, but we don't really love it either.

A lot of the teams in our area are a bit more "serious" (names like 'overwatch gaming', 'warzone', 'legion' etc.) We're looking for something a little more light-hearted than that. Some of the people who have gone for more "fun" names aren't really our style (weaponized autism, cunning stunts etc.) If anyone from any of those teams is reading this, please don't be offended, it's just not the style our group is going for.

We're looking for something light-hearted, preferably referencing either the 40k world or the 8th edition meta, or just warhammer in itself. Any ideas would be very greatly appreciated! Thanks!

On a serious note - Just the name of your area and club at the end? Like e.g if you live in Los Angeles - Los Angeles 40k club.

There are a few local clubs that use their location as a name, but we’re kind of all from the same region, and would probably still rather something a little “punny” / 40k related.

My favourite so far is probably Boots on the Ground, but I’ll take all the suggestions to the group and see what they think. Still open to more suggestions too ☺️

I've got some more, I quite like thinking of club names.

Also Boots on the Ground IS the name of the new rule that flyers can't score/ you need non flyers on objectives right?

In general I would recommend staying away from the current flavour of the month. Is it just for 40k or will you be playing other games?

My club started out as "town where they were based" + unit from the game they played (Trollslayers, since the guy who started the club played short ginger bearded folks with mohawks) - hence the Cessnock (Troll)Slayers.

When the old guard left, and the younger folks outnumbered the ones who were left, the "troll" got dropped and they just became the "Slayers". The guys who still play T9a still call themselves slayers.

Dice were made out of animal bones before the days of Resin so there is that.
