And, because this site horribly screws up the formatting I used on the other site I've posted this, have a link to it!

For those who don't know much about D&D 5E, the characters go up to level 20, and the highest CR (Challenge Rating) of a published monster is 30. So Abaddon is BEASTLY.

I think he seems kinda over rated combat wise he would be pretty easy to just bone with a caster and his hit modifiers are worse then that of a lv20 martial.

I might suggest adhering to the First Maxim of GMing: If you stat it, they will kill it. If you want them to kill Abbadon all well and good, but things without stats are always scarier.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Um... Are we looking at the same statblock?

Casters being powerful is true, but he's got enough HP and saves to get through a LOT of spells, and his hit modifiers are far, FAR above the +11 your non-magic item equipped martial has. (+14 if they have legendary items.)

My bad was thinking of 3.5 where martial's get at least +28 to hit at lv 20 and casters have save or suck come out at over 30 dc

I feel you have way overdone his entire stat line, and ability lines.
With D&D and other rpgs, it’s better to make interesting monsters than powerful ones.
Despite his stats he will still probably be focus down by any competent group without GM cheating.

Characters like Abaddon are allways better as powerful leaders, bolstering and supported by units and groups working together.
Stat wise here, he siting higher than a terasque.
Abaddon why a powerful combatant, and strong leader just does not warrant such a overblown stat line.
I think if you where working him into a campaign, having him be around CR 17 would leave space for things like greator demons, but also space for other chaos leadership and units on the battlefield with him.

That’s fair.

I’ll probably make a less powerful, more tactical variant later. Out and about right now though.

I had wanted to say more, but did not really know what to say without a huge post. Since I think the work you have put in is really good.
Quality wise I would enjoy putting something like this into a campaign.

What has Abaddon to do with Dungeons & Dragons? Anyway, how about you let him duke it out with a Tarrasque and tells us how the fight went?

Eh, definitely over-stated - needs to be on par with a Goblin for a true reflection...

So he's stronger than a storm giant that's 26' tall and weighs 30,000 lbs? Sounds reasonable. I think it's safe to say that he's a smidge overstatted.
Also, eight points smarter than a lich that's smart enough to overcome death itself?

Sod Storm Giants, not even Demigorgon, the Prince of Demons has 30 strength.

Yeah, feedback here and there was basically "You done made him too strong."

Which, looking over, I agree with.

So, if you want to check the link again, I've made a newer, much less powerful version!

I think only Tiamat and the terasque have 30 for any stats, and they both only have two at that.

The terasque at CR 30 I think is str 30 dex 11 con 30 int 3 wis 11 cha 11. Legendary god beast that is a gargantuan monstrosity. In the context of the rules for D&D abadin is right up there with deity’s like this.
Could put a divine level on him and he could be a god in a D&D game
This is really good work other than how powerful he is.
