Am I missing any?

Does one ruleset have it over all the others?

Field of Glory (FoG), Impetus and Hail Caesar. That I can think of.
DBA is similar to DBM, but with only a few elements.

DBMM is basically improved DBM.
FoG largely replaced DBM/DBMM, using units rater than the single element system of DBx. ADLG seems to have taken the best DBM and FoG to make a new game.

ADLG is probably ascendent in it's popularity, since it combines DBx basing with not needing as many miniatures as FoG, has a relatively straightforward ruleset that still offers strategic and tactical depth, and plays pretty quickly.

However, I'm taking a real shine to To the Strongest! (and it's ECW variant, For King & Parliament!), as TtS does a lot of the same things ADLG does but also removes some of the quibbles I have - wonky movement rules that have people arguing over millimeters - and allows players to have different basing to play together since the game uses a grid to move.

I think Swordpoint and Clash of Empires also are Ancients rule system that are still out there.

Purely in terms of competitions....

ADLG is the most widely played right now globally and still growing. Biggest in UK, US, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Australia, and a decent second or tied for first in NZ, Italy, Greece
DBMM is a clear second, but with a pretty static player base - centrered in UK, NZ, a group or two in HK and Germany plus some other small pockets
DBA is very widely played in the UK, US and other places. The US has a separate, scaled up, US developed 'kinda' version called Triumph as well
DBM is played in the UK by about 4-5 clubs who organise a small circuit, but this is a very static small pool of players.
FoG AM is in decline but still has numbers to support events in the UK, plus a few in Germany, France
MeG is played in UK, France, Belgium and in pockets in Australia and the US and is growing slowly
Spearpoint doesn't really appear to have taken off as a competition game - there are a small, declining handful of competitions in the UK currently, and none I've seen elsewhere
Impetus seems to have run out of, well, impetus as a competition game in the UK with barely any events in the last year - but there is a new version in the works apparently
Saga is pretty widely played, especially in France, Germany and to a smaller degree in the UK
TTS! is clearly very popular, but the community seem to have been a bit slow to run events - those that have taken place have been very well supported. I get the impression that more events would throw up much bigger numbers of players
CoE only seems to support a couple of stand-alone events in the UK mostly organised by the author himself.
Armati has a very small UK and international pool of players who run a handful of events for themselves each year
WRG 6th and 7th are similar in scale and level of support to Armati

But the main thing is what's played near to you and in yoru local FLGS or club !

I appreciate all of the input guys!

Now, I've just got to find my 'local' group and see what it is they're playing...
