Afternoon all,

Starting a campaign in August and while the initial point value is 1000 points, territories can award extra points and most will start with one which grants 150.
No battalions, no named character, no artifacts, no alliances outside of your chosen army.. Plus some other limitations

Must include two units of Chainrasp horde (core units).
0-4 Heroes (0-1 unique hero, if you want more than one of a hero, must take another unit of Chainrasps (I'm already at capacity with use on 2 units I feel).
0-2 Behemoth
0-2 Artillery
0-1 Endless

There is also a rule about losing half your wounds resulting in an army wide panic check <10 on 2d6, lowering by one for each battle round that occurs. Loss of this check results in your remaining army fleeing. Healing and resurrecting does not add back to this wound count. In light of this I am trying to minimise the 5+ saves from chainrasps while keep wound count high.

+ Leader +

Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern [140pts]: 5. Shademist, Chill Blade

Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed [140pts]: 6. Ruler of the Spirit Host, General

Spirit Torment [120pts]

+ Battleline +

Chainrasp Horde [160pts]: 2x 10 Chainrasps

Chainrasp Horde [80pts]: 10 Chainrasps

Grimghast Reapers [280pts]: 2x 10 Grimghast Reapers

+ Other +

Chainghasts [80pts]: 2 Chainghasts

+ Allegiance +

Alliegiance: Allegiance: Nighthaunt

+ Game Options +

Game Type: 1000 Points - Vanguard

Thoughts and critique?

I was thinking of expanding to LoN however I have less experience with them (and would need to buy many models, not that I am opposed to that )

LoN is an extremely strong allegiance right now. Literally taking this list and running it as LoN with no changes it would be stronger. Spamming reapers can get you anywhere, and as an added bonus they are strong against high-model count units so you can try to kill the enemy 'half-wounds' threshold faster.

The mounted knight of shrouds is not bad, but sub-par compared to the one on foot or a vampire lord. An advantage of LoN is you can include the latter without needing to ally him in.

Thanks for the update, that is a good idea I don't know why I hadn't thought of that.

The only major change would be that the Core unit rule of the campaign would remove 2 units of chainrasp horde and replace with 2 units of skellys. Though I support this is a non-issue (though slightly less survivable). LoN also unlocks more casters for me though with Necromancers too.

Thanks again for the prompt reply

Happy to help

Chainrasps are battleline in LoN too.

Yeah, there is another rule in the campaign where each army has a core unit (of the battleline section). In LoN it's Skelton Warriors. That might weaken those 20 wounds a little, but adds the flexibility of running some Grimghast blenders supported with by a Guardian of Souls and then as the campaign proceeds I have access to more options from the LoN lineup. Albeit means adding more models to my collection.. but that is why we're all here, right?

Maybe after some revision, you can check an alternate army list for me and give some thoughts?

A lot of it depends on what you are up against. The half-wounds panic check changes the dynamic; reducing the potency of some builds but also opening up new avenues for exploitation. It could be worthwhile, for example, to bring a 40-man blob of skeletons that just sits in the back and stays out of combat simply to add to your overall wounds count. Options that recover wounds are less valuable, while units that can avoid taking wounds via saves/fnp are more so.

It also makes getting a double turn even more massively game-swinging since you could potentially kill them down to that threshold without them getting a chance to respond. So having fewer units to secure second turn is more valuable.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I was in heated discussion with the GM of the campaign on the inclusion of the errata Nighthaunt to the LoN lineup. Eventually he agreed they are a part of it in this campaign so I feel it is worth entertaining again. I need to decide pretty soon on running LoN or keeping as Nighthaunt, given the army wide invul and area FNP I am leaning towards Nighthaunt currently. Thoughts? Is the offerings of LoN that much superior? (I look for an excuse to buy more plastic crack )

LoN is quite powerful; the sheer amount of model ressurrection is very difficult to overcome. FYI, all Death factions have the army wide fnp.
