lets say I have an alpha legion detachment that consists of
2 demon prince
3 troops
1 defiler

Can I make it a soulforged detachment? (I want to spend the 1cp for infernal engines stratagem and advance, warptime and charge with my defiler)

Yes. Note that you can only have one Soulforged detachment in your list, so make it count!

Source please? I see where it says "... a Detachment from your army can only be upgraded to a Specialist Detachment once..." but I do not see where it says you may only take each Specialist Detachment only once in your army.

I may be wrong on that-I'm PRETTY SURE that each of the Formation strats has a once per game limitation, but I may be wrong.

AFB right now, so no checking it for me.

Any Detachment from your army (except
for Auxiliary Support Detachments) can
be upgraded to a Specialist Detachment
by using an appropriate Specialist
Detachment Stratagem. A Detachment
from your army can only be upgraded to a Specialist
Detachment once and thus cannot have multiple
Specialist Detachment Stratagems applied to it, even if
they affect different units in the Detachment.

This is from Vigilis 1. I assume it's the same as 2.

Edit: After rereading, it looks like this only says 1 detachment can't be more than 1 specialist detachment even if it satisfies 2. But I don't seem to see anywhere that says you can't have 3 of the same specialist detachments.

Which doesn't prevent you from taking multiples of the same Specialist Detachment, but prevents you from upgrading the same detachment to two (or more) Specialst Detachments.

I would agree with this as well. And it seems I can declare my detachment above as a soulforged, with just one model thats legally affected by the strategem.
