Trying my hand at making a fun deathwatch list. A couple of issues I have, namely without the codex i can't figure out why BS is flipping its lid of me having a captain with a SS and a Xenophase blade, anyone know what the issue is there?

It's a pretty direct list, but wondering where you intend to put the characters? I think DW do better with a more asymmetric approach, but that's just me

It may be because the Watch Captain cannot take a stormshield with a Xenophase blade. A Watch Sergeant can do it but a Watch Captain can only exchange his chainsword for a Xenophase blade or exchange his chainsword and MC boltgun with two items from the Deathwatch Equipment List. Unfortunately, when you look at the Xenophase blade in the Deathwatch Equipment List, it says that only a Watch Sergeant can take it.

Crazy restriction but that's what the Codex says.

Strange, BS lists both in two different slots implying you can take it. But I will choose a different set for him then. Thanks!

Can you explain what you mean by "asymmetric approach"

I would drop a veteran with a bolter in 2 of the squads to be able to put the terminators in the squad and split them. This allows your terminators to get objective secured. With the extra points you could put a couple more storm shields or storm bolters on your bolter vets. Or you can switch out the xenophase with a thunder hammer and add a jump pack to your watch captain. Hope that helps.
