Recently bought a dozen (well 11 and bought Damrod as well) rangers of middle earth. I want to use all of them with spears but only 4 of the models have spears. Have any of y'all converted these models? My only thought is to buy some spears from some where (still looking) and either mount them on the backs or in the ground next to the rangers as if they stuck the spear in the ground.

Any ideas on a better way, or which spears would look good?

This is exactly what I did with mine. Not the clearest of photos, but you can see how I put them on the models in the back:



Of course, I derpily decided to have mine stuck into the ground from the pole end, rather than the spear, for reasons (I'm an idiot). I did this, rather than putting them on their backs or anything, because I couldn't figure out a way to get them on their backs that looked right.

The spears themselves I got on a sprue from eBay. I believe they were bitz from some Warlord Games historical kit.

That looks pretty good so I think that's exactly what I'll do. While I guess it makes more sense to put them tip down, I think it looks better this way. I feel like tip down would just look the model has a stick or a staff.
