GW announced a game release and sale on Steam yesterday, so I went to have a look.
And look what I found listed as released yesterday, and in the sale...

So, with Dark Future being my favourite GW game ever, I bought it.
3 hours in, it has promise. It seems as though they took the Spacehulk video games (the pause options for planning and orders), and reskinned Spy Hunter. With 3D.
I hadn't heard this was happening, so happy day.

Oh wow it finally came out, i had given hope on it as it has been "Coming Soon" for a few years now. I have some Steam credit so i am picking this up ASAP.

How does it play? Is like an RTS or is turn-based?

I'm a big fan of the original Dark Future board game so would be cool if this plays in the same way.

Gone-to-ground in the craters of Coventry

It is real-time, with a pause to nearly-stopped.
When paused, you can queue up actions, like changing lane, settings speed, boost or brake, target, fire weapons front/turret/rear.
You can spin the camera around, from the usual above-behind.
When you are targetted, a bar appears around the car pointing where it is about to come from (yellow arrow), and where the shots came from (red arrow).

When your armour on a facing is shot off, your core health starts dropping. You can trigger a repair every while to respore the core, but the armour stays shot.

You cannot u-turn but can end up facing backwards on a collision or spin. It will turn you, and smash you up if you stay off the track for too long. If you get stuck, there is a tow-truck button you can pay to use.
Taking a bend at full-boost is no problem, so being forced to drift isn't a thing.
Rear weapons are mostly all mines, but I saw mention of shotguns.
The light-cars-go-faster isn't a thing. Big engine lets you fit more stuff.

I ended up refunding this because it crashed/locked up twice during the tutorial and locked up within 30 seconds of starting the first mission.

A pity.
I've had no issues, apart from when I loaded it when the CPU was already maxed out with something else. No crashes yet, but no two machines are the same.
The only thing I saw was when I wanted to select a bigger resolution and it insisted on going smaller and windowed. It worked fine when I selected a smaller-than-max res.

I'll keep an eye on the patch notes (you never know) for stability fixes.
