Hi Guys

Im painting some tabbard on my wraiths which I want to be red - Saim hann sort of finishso a rich/bright red.

Currently have Khorn & mephiston red.
The only red I have painted in my scheme was on my autarch and I have ben mixing my own colours for the blending effect.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to what GW colours scale up from khrone red base for a saim hann red finish?

Many Thanks in advance.

Well...

GW do Mephiston Red base, Agarx shade, Evil Sunz Scarlet layer and Wild Rider Red highlights for their Saim Hann red armour.

The painting app does list "Crimson" which is the same, but starting with Khorne Red, and a "Bright Red", which uses Carroburg Crimson instead of Agarx.

Prime white or light brown, then Evil Suns Scarlet, then into Wild Rider Red.

I would recommend VMC Flat Red 957 31 though as base. It is way stronger and more opaque than GW reds. Highlight into Scarlet. Also might want to buy red ink to glaze over to make color pop, I use Liquitex. The varnish choice is up to you, GW purity seal is heavy gloss, only good if you want your red to sparkle like a popsicle.

Thanks for the info. I will have a look at evil sunz and wild rider at the store tomorrow. I keep forgetting that theres an app for their colours.

FYI - I prime black because that's my main armour colour for my army. I roll with GW colours because there's a shop nearby I can buy from on my way to the gym and I like their paints. I have a bunch of shades and glazes and I use Tamiya semi matt varnish.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will download their app for sure when I get home from work!

Then you can try applying white primer (err, Ceramite White?) over black, then put red over it.

Or some grey. Either way whitening the base before red will make it soooooooo much easier.
