Well, I know alot of people that liked this movie*, but I don’t know anyone that felt a sequel was necessary. But it was a thriller/horror movie that made absolute bank along with critical success so a sequel was essentially mandatory for the industry.

Least it has the same crew(Krasinski still writing/directing, Blunt still starring) as before and looks to be a continuation rather than a fresh story. Cillian Murphy is always good as well, in my experience, so that will be interesting to see what he brings to the table. Somewhat optimistic.

Via Bloody Disgusting:
John Krasinski has returned to the director’s chair for A Quiet Place 2, with the actor/filmmaker announcing on Twitter that filming has begun on the 2020 sequel today!

At this time it’s being referred to simply as “Part II.”

What do we know about the film? Well, it has been confirmed that Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe will reprise their roles from the first film, with Brian Tyree Henry (Child’s Play) and Cillian Murphy joining them this time around.

Krasinski, who also wrote the follow-up for Paramount, recently noted that he doesn’t see it quite as a sequel so much as an expansion on the world he took us into last year.

“I think that we’re going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened,” Brian Tyree Henry told Indiewire in June, suggesting we’ll be learning more about this particular apocalypse next year. “I think that people want to know that. But I think you’re just going to see another side of it…more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story.”

We’ll head back to a Quiet Place on March 20, 2020.

*It had its problems, like all the “sensory ‘X’ deprived ” monster/horror/survival movies seem to suffer, but it was king of that group of similiar movies that came out shortly after. In every way, by a mile.

I would like much more "perspective" focus on Millicent Simmonds in this one than the first, because she's a far more unknown quantity to me as a viewer than Krasinski or Blunt (I like both of them, but holy moly do they indulge themselves in that movie) and I thought she was great. Thought her performance was really unshowyoffy and visceral, I genuinely wasn't sure how her character was going to cope with one thing or another, in a good way.

I really enjoyed the first, but found Krasinski's character in particular really distractingly flattering to... himself, but I'm well up for this, notwithstanding.

Im assuming they run across some of the government that is holed up underground, or something, if the movie is going to delve into creature origins.

I also liked this, didn't think it needed a sequel. But who knows, maybe the sequel will be amazing.

Looks like they are going the “humans are the real monsters” route, which is a bummer.

Found the opening “prequel” scene more compelling, honestly. And it gives John Krasinski an excuse to come back, in an acting role that is.

I have several thoughts, really.

The prequel elements look good. Post apoc is cool but present apoc for me is cooler.

Cillian Murphy! This could be awesome.

"The humans are the real monsters", as noted, was a cool concept when Night of the Living Dead came out but it's been a bit beaten to death by now. Not sure how to put a refreshing twist on that.

Pretty impressed that you remembered this thread and updated it first thing in the morning.

I'm definitely going to see this as soon as it comes out.

looks good, but I got a big walking dead vibe. I like that they're showing more of the aliens though.

I didn't really remember. I tend to do a keyword search before I post a topic to avoid duplication. Lo and behold, the 2019 version of myself actually made the initial thread.

I always felt that if you accidentally let out a fart or you had diarrhea of some sort (cause let's face it, apocalypse food prolly ain't great) that it would the cause of a fair bit of death in this kind of film. I get why they wouldn't include it because it would clash against the tone of the movie, but especially with a baby or kid that doesn't know how to keep it in, hoo boy you can bet your ass those weird creepy crawlers are coming for that stank booty.
