Hi All,

Just got back into dakkadakka. I am an old lurker and am now starting AOS and would like some advice.

I want to start with Sylvaneth (whom I mostly see more as forest-demons ). I bought 2 boxes of the starting set and want to create a small list with this contents. Something like 1000 pts.
I have no clue what works and what not and I have no idea what artefact or trait to pick (if any). I would appreciate any help with that.

I have 2 starter kits, so:
- 32 dryads
- 2 treelord kits (I think a durthu and a ancient will be build, where ancient can change weapon to mimic generic treelord
- 2 branchewyches (1 will be modified to branchewraith..)

The list I am now thinking of:
- Spirit of Durthu (General)
- Branchewitch
- Branchewraith
- treelord
- 20 dryads
- 10 dryads

comes out to exact 1000. I currently have no summoning unit, but my group is pretty loose and should allow me to use standins until I expand my collection further. (maybe adding another starterset or just 1 or 2 boxes of dryads)
I will have opponents using Chaos warriors, gloomspite gitz and undead mainly.

Will this list be a good enough start and give me enough stuff to handle non-competitive lists, without overpowering? I fear the reaction to 2 monsters a bit, but overall I think they are not that bad as they are pretty expensice pointswise and are going down pretty fast to enough attention.

I recommend grabbing a unit of tree revenants and using this list:
Durthu -340
Ancient -300
Branchwraith -80
Branchwych -80
Tree-Revenant -80
Dryad-100

This gives you a total of 980 points, which two units of dryads available for summoning. The Tree-Revenants give you extra mobility while providing the extra opportunity to summon dryads. Do you have an idea on which glade you'd like to run? How many wyldwood do you have or are you planning to get?

Don 't rally line the navenante as they are prettig expensive moneywise to get a unit of 10.. are the worth it in 5?

Besides the collection mentioned i have nothing yet. Planning on platina a game or 2 before buying that. Bit tight on money.

Tree revenants are absolutely great in a unit of 5. Definitely worth it. Understand the financial strain. I'd look for the old tree bases on ebay or even counts as mdf/neoprene/etc versions. The army really needs them to function.

wow, answering on phone leads to an unreadable jumble

thinking about tree revenants. Did not think they where very good and I see the point about hopping round the field, but as I see lot's of hordes fielded, or big guys, then these just do not cut it IMHO..

For the woods I am thinking of buying 1 set of the new trrees and then creating some bases using mdf or something like that. Don't play tournaments, so...
