Nice. It looks like you should paint the base in a dark brown (and possibly apply some varnish) before apply the crackle paint.

Thanks, it was quite fun to do. I painted the base Rhinox Hide prior to putting on the paint. It is difficult to see at this unfortunate angle.
I may go lighter, however, as it is still pretty dark from above.
So tell me, why the varnish before the crackle paint?

I don't know if the varnish before the crackle paint is needed, I just thought that IF the crackle paint starts pulling off the basecoat then a varnish would solve it. If you didn't have that problem then it sounds like it's not necessary after all.

Cool, it should hold , I just need to learn to apply it a bit better to avoid those edges curling up in such a fashion.
I spray seal with a one-two punch of Testors Glosscoat followed by Testors Dulle Coat Matte, which makes the paint very durable.
Thanks and cheers for the feedback! Automatically Appended Next Post:
Thanks immensely ghost; I am going to do non-traditional colors for the majority of my Imperials. More fun to paint that way, and I've lots of ideas.
Cheers

Storm Trooper, Policy Enforcement Division. I'm not keen on it really, but all are primered this way. Finishing unit now that this test model is complete.

That's a very vibrant red, I like it! I feel like the model might benefit from having some more details picked out in another colour just to break up the red a bit; maybe just some black in the joints or some more steel details or something.

Thank you and yes I agree, I think it needs some contrast to break up the red. I'm viewing Sorastro's paint tutorial now on YouTube to pinpoint exactly where those joints are. I'll apply some black -- others have reinforced your suggestion.
Cheers and thanks for the feedback.

I wasn't happy with how clean my Red Trooper was, so I added some weathering pigment and outlined the recess of the armor in black as people suggested. Still not thrilled, but the unit will be done soon at least.
Going traditional white on the 2nd batch, however.

I've been eyeing some of these miniatures...and just stumbled upon the old PDFs for the classic miniatures rules for Star Wars. Might have to read through those and see if they're worth picking up.

Nice, he's looking even better than before. I think the added work on the head is having a surprisingly large effect, it's really making the green eye lenses look sharp and bright!

Many thanks Soul Samurai, I appreciate the encouragement. I'm glad the extra effort with the black lining paid off.

A simple, even skirmish rule set, requiring less figures, seems like it would be fun to play using some of these FFG troops. Enjoy!

Some contrast paint here, specifically clothing and skin. I wish I had done his breast plate as well, instead of metal.
Do you use contrast for your Legion?
