Ugh. What a nightmare this is. So, like everyone else here, I've got codexes, rulebooks and other crap dating back to the 90s for WFB and 40k. None if it is really worth much of anything, maybe $5 - $10 according to ebay sale prices. Factor in shipping fees, ebay fees, paypal fees, time & gas to go to the post office and I'd be lucky to walk away net positive.

So what does everyone do with their stuff?

Donate it. Sell the books to used bookstores. Don't expect to be making money from it for the most part.

Sell it as a lot. See what people will offer.

I got $100 for a complete set of Warhammer Visions.

Wrap it in swaddling clothes, place it in a basket, and let the river take it to its destiny.

Or donate it to friends at the FLGS.

I don't know if you live anywhere near a Halfprice bookstore, but the one near where I live actually buys painted minis and old books. They won't give you a ton for them, but its easy and better than just throwing them in the bin.

You can also try online resellers like Noble Knight.
You're not gonna make a killing but, unless they changed policy, they used to even pay for the shipping label for you to send stuff to them.

I've given a pile of stuff away in the past. A lot of rpg books.

Some people have paid for postage which helped.
Other books were just given away as gifts to friends who I found out had been looking for them for ages.

I don't expect to get much if anything for them. I paid x for them, I've had my value out of them over the last couple of decades, so they are no longer "worth" anything to me. If someone else wants them, they can have them.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

Yeah unless its in a lot don't expect to get much. I'm an avid buyer of all things OOP, whether its older editions of Warhammer, D&D, Vampire ETC...But the price range fluxes from "Holy crap! That's a great deal!" to "40 bucks AND 20 dollar shipping? yeah better to buy into the new edition..."

I mean there are collectors out there but unless it's something REALLY rare, they will wait for a better deal.

If the books are in a good condition, maybe a local library would take them?

Gaming literature has been woefully under-preserved, and a library is equipped to catalog, care for and offer access to these materials.

I’d be happy to take your Fantasy off your hands.

I know in the St Louis area that the FLGS will have game day customer yard sale and used auctions a few times a year. That is one of the best ways for me to get rid of stuff without paying shipping
and getting a decent price for it.. One bad point is they usually only offer store credit as payment. So if you are getting out of gaming, it may not be worth it.

One of my FLGS has a used minis bin, and they'll buy pretty much anything 40k or AoS/Fantasy related (GW only at this point though). My other FLGS has a couple of sales each year where people can bring used stuff in and sell it. I've gotten a couple of very sweet deals that way.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 7 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

Realistically if you find it to be crap and in the way most other people will too.

chances are no one is going to want to buy any of the old books outside of rare or very hard to find books

making a few bucks on some books is honestly not worth the time trying to maximize profits on ebay or what not and LFG swap meets is not a guaranteed way to push them.

Best thing to do (if space is that much of an issue) imho is to ether donate them or bin them. if you can cut the spine and scan everything so you could at least keep a digital copy of everything.

Rare books may be worth keeping or selling.

I posted some 8th edition fantasy materials in my trade thread. If interested, hit me up.

Due to work, I can usually only ship any sales or trades out on Saturday morning. Please trade/purchase with this in mind.
