I've been playing warhammer for 6 years, starting with v5, with my favorite faction, the Tau Empire.
I was very frustrated by the v7, so with some friends we switched to the alternative rules onepagerules.
So we could continue to play with our painted army, but with much faster and simple rules.
The v8 is now much better, but there are still too much special rules everywhere, which slows down the game too much.
We ended up writing our own rules called FastHammer, and we are playing regularly with them.
Dakka looks to be a good place to discuss stuff like this
