Hey Dakka, looking for some input. I've been working on my Daughters of Khaine army off and on since the army was released and want to motivate myself to finish building and get them primed before winter entombs me - which means I need to finish some conversions, which means I need to finally settle exactly who these particular people are and how that gets expressed on their models.
I don't usually have a problem with this kind of thing, I usually have a solid picture of what I want my army to draw inspiration from before I buy my first model, but this time I find I have
too many ideas, and they aren't quite congealing into a cohesive whole. I'd like some feedback on which elements seem cool, which could be rolled into other ideas or which should be disregarded.
Broad strokes, I like the Daughters of Khaine for their savage berserker quality. They feel very
power metal, and I don't want to dilute that too much. So with that said, here we go:
Realm - Ghur?
- my Cauldron of Blood is being
pulled by fenwolves
- my on-foot Hag Queens are
riding fenwolves
- I may be building an 'on-foot' slaughter queen riding a cold one
- I think the realm of beasts is a good fit?
Origin - Enemy of a Tzeentch-themed warlord
- I like the idea that my general blinded herself to overcome some kind of magic illusion
- maybe they were a cohesive army that encountered the warlord who he confused with illusions to make them kill each other
- maybe they weren't a cohesive army originally, but Aelves captured by the warlord to fight each other for the gods' amusement
- I'm not sure how to reconcile this with the realm choice - did Tzeentch forces make any significant incursions into Ghur, even during the Age of Chaos?
Misc ideas -
- on the one hand, I like the idea of the infantry covering themselves in ash, so they'd have this look like the war boys from fury road - on the other hand I can't think of what to do with the wolves, vehicles, and snake ladies to compliment that scheme.
- where the book generally makes it clear that the
DoK worship Khaine first and Morathi second (as his prophet) I think this particular sect is more directly loyal to her.
- I don't like the basic Avarat of Khaine - considering combining parts from it with Esske to make a more relaxed pose for it - might use crackle paint to make it look like a crumbling statue.
Anyway, thoughts?
