I am currently writing a bit of army lore and I wanted it to involve a Chaos Marauder tribe who, rather than just being killed on sight, converted to worship Allarielle (legit, no secret backsliding ). Basically after a thousand years you go from Chaos Marauders to House Stark. But then this creates a host of other problems for the Stormcast and nobody trusts them.

Does that make sense?

I know AoS is a lot more lenient on people walking away from Chaos but I am not sure if it’s plausible that a whole tribe could. Plus is it reasonable that a Lord Celestant would be able to make that call and wouldn’t be obliged to destroy them rather than take a risk?

Depends on how Chaos they were. Especially during the Age of Myth, the Chaos gods were not really known and elements of Chaos-worship existed alongside worship of Sigmar as cultural practices of a sort. The names of the Chaos gods or their nature as the Ruinous Powers were not even a mystery as the true extent of their existence was not yet felt. The Red Feast novel has a lot of that. For what you are describing it could work.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Not very Chaos. Basically they’re the cannon fodder tribe that greater chaos champions hurled at the walls. Any shamans or Chiefs who were Chaos died when the Stormcast reconquered the Kingdoms. So yeah they were a Chaos tribe in the Age of Chaos but by the Soul Wars they worship Allarielle.

The problem is that they believe they should still own the parts of this Kingdom that they conquered during the “good old days.” as it’s their homelands. Plus they have an inflated sense of their own importance and their place in the world. Kings of Winter, wolfsblood yada yada. A thousand years is a long time for myths to develop. Which creates headaches for the Stormcast Eternals.

Not read Red Feast. Looked interesting though.

I wouldn't see why not.

If their faith leaders had died, they'd be easy pickings for an Excelsior Warpriest to walk into the tribe and gain some converts. Having an army from a Free City or a Stormhost behind him would help speed up the conversions.

Depends on the Stormhost that the Lord Celestant is from. I'd imagine Hammers of Sigmar and Hallowed Knights would be a little more lenient, but Celestial Vindicators and Knights Excelsior would wipe the tribe out to the last without even thinking about it.

And regarding their territorial claims, I'd imagine there is still some "secular" type wars over land/trade/food still happening in the Mortal Realms. Alot of factions fall under the Order banner, but they don't all get along and the gods aren't directly involved all the time.
