Well, exactly what it says on the tin. I've got all 8 books, with the exception of book 4 due to finding that one quite boring, and although I've got book 8 I haven't read it yet. Has anyone heard any juice about any such book being in the wing?

We're expecting next spring, hopefully.

It's got the Dark Angel rules, rules for Dark Mechanicum, in which they'll be broken up into 3 different play styles, and then updating rules for Nightlords.

Can't wait!
I'd like them to spend a bit of time producing concept art for all mechanicum units so anyone inspired to kitbash/convert/scratchbuild has some idea where to go with it.

They have announced such things during the Forge World Open Day in November or February. I can't remember if they talked about book 9 release dates from the FW Open Day earlier this year. To tell you the truth, I was more interested in the Blood Angels and Sanguinius. Book 9 is supposed to have what, Dark Angels and Dark Mechanicum? Anything else?

I seem to recall that book 9 was supposed to end the Horus Heresy series, and start a new three book arc for the Siege of Terra.

So let's clear this up a little, starting with book 9 contents (that we roughly know from the HH Weekender and Open Days so far this year).
- Thramas Crusade: Entire Sector at War, Dark Angels vs Night Lords, with various amounts of the Dark Mech. thrown around too.
- Definitely rules for DA and Dark Mech units, suggestions of extra stuff for the NL's but only by deign of them being in the book (nothing confirmed for that Legion as it were, just supposition)
- This is roughly the mid-point book for the FW Black Campaign Book series, they have plans to do a LOT more (think roughly 20 sketched/noted out off-hand)

- Book 9 does not end the Heresy series (it's not set during the end-point, FW are still only midway through having only covered Istvann, Calth, Signus Prime, Chondax and (soon) Thramas. Those are all before Imperium Secundus, Tallarn, Horus going to Molech, Beta Garmen (spelling), etc and well before the Solar War.
- Siege of Terra book series ending the Heresy was in relation to the Black Library HH series, it being a 6/7 part series that details the Siege. FW has not got up to that point yet, though they have come out and said doing the Siege would be a 3-part series much like how Istvaan was a 3-part series. At present we have no further information on the future of the FW Heresy than this, though there's no reason to think it is ending anytime soon. Nor is it likely changing to the current 40k rules set either (no matter how people feel on that one, the decision has been made and is being stuck to for now).

If I was a betting man, I'd bet that after book 9, the entire HH series gets released with 8th ed rules. Or maybe 9th edition? Next year would be the time frame for a new edition of 40K, though GW says they won't do a 9th edition, just updates.

I’m with you here, Horus Heresy never had the issues that 40k 7th had with bloat, and the crunchiness of the Rules works just fine for me. Would be upsetting to see it go to 8th and lose mechanics like armor facings and blasts.

yeah the 7th ruleset wasnt a problem, just the ridiculous armies they put into it. When everything is pretty much marines it seems to work great

I'd take that bet.

Especially considering they've stated multiple times that there is no plans at all to push the system into 8th edition like rules.

8th has it's own problems, and trying to balance all the variant lists from HH would be a nightmare to try an cram into a single book.

I think it's best that Forgeworld keep the modified 7th rules set. it gives HH it's own flavor. They just need to work on getting balance patches out more frequently then every 2 years or so. HH's main problem is the usual undercosted/overcosted unit problem that has plagued GW since 3rd.
