Hi,

I thinking of expanding into Space Marines - Ultramarines to be precise.
As I am a main Nids player so far I wanted to expand towards the exact opposite. (also lore wise)

When talking about Nids we often put our units in tiers. Top tier is Genestealers, Hive Guards, Swarmlord, OOE. Mid tier is Flyrant, Broodlord, Termagants, Carnifex, Exocrine. Low tier is too long to list.

I know Space Marines have far more units than Nids but would you mind listing some according to tiers?
e.g.
Top tier: Gulliman is obvious choice? Tiggy? Invictus Warsuit? Predator?
Mid tier: Techmarine? Tactital Squad? Vindicator? Repulsor Executioner?

Thank you!

I think for Ultramarine, your tier list would likely to continue with:

Top tier: Aggressors, Devastators (with Grav Cannon and Droppod), Ven Dread with TLLC and ML, Thunder fire cannon

Invictus Warsuit and Predator is likely to be mid tier sadly.

Other Mid Tier: Intercessor, Scouts, Vanguard Veteran (if Vigilus formations still exist), Chapter Champion, Honor Guards, all Bikes,

Low Tiers: Terminators, Assault Squads, Servitors.

Tiggy/Calgar intercessors and tactical marines are your top teir.
Along with aggressors/assault centurions(due to stratagems)Ven dreads/Redemptor dreads/Incvictors. Possibly scout bikes too.

Chronus in a stalker or WW or vindi is basically auto include as well. Vindis aren't bad ether because you can fall back and shoot them.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

What stratagem does assault centurions benefit from in ultramarine? I'm looking to make assault cents work in ultramarine successor

Unfortunately it doesn't work as well with a successor. It allows and Ultramarines unit to fallback, shoot, and charge in the same turn with no penalty. It would just allow a successor to fall back and shoot at a -1.

I too want to get ultramarines successors to work but it seems there are a lot of roadblocks to making it work.

Aggressors are the tip of the top followed by characters that support them. Intercessors follow along in the same vein as they benefit from all the things that aggressors do, but are less strong at the start

Invictor war suits are good for everyone. Take three, they’re cheap for what they do.

Scout bikes are a solid choice and scouts remain a choice screen unit.

Eliminators are another unit that are just good for everyone even if you don’t excel as hard with them

As Ultramarine the Aggressors are the top low Strength high RoF unit from Turn 2 on. But I am afraid your enemy will never let them live through Turn 1. It is very easy to remove T5 3W 3+ save models. A decent squad of Dark Reapers can easily wipe a full unit of Aggressors. As Ultramarine they don't have the resilience their Ironhand buddy have.

Yeah it's true. It's why I don't use them or I'll just include a 3 man squad - hard to justify taking them over putting those points into another dread. Intercessors are much better choice I am afraid. Turn one they can be buffed with CP to get double shots ont the move and they are much cheaper per wound. Plus they give you CP.

Man if only we had access to a highly mobile bunker we can put such units in.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

The Repulsor is the only way that give you a slight chance to protect the Aggressors. Sadly they become overpriced now with the price hike and the "nerf" Guilliman got. Plus, if you don't go first, Eldars could still easily delete the Repulsor with linked fire Fire Prism, guided Dark Reapers, and 36" jinx and doom. Against other armies that is not Aeldari, or Knight Castellan, you may stand a chance to let your Aggressors shoot once in a game.
