And I regret not getting grot rebels way back in the day. It was just in the time I started out, though, so getting in specialist games was not on my radar. And I was 11.
Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.
I have to agree, though, that this may not be a particularly good Red Gobbo. The thing is, the Red Gobbo is a Gretchin styled as a commie revolutionary. The Gretchin is still there, but the theme has been completely changed over to Christmas. He doesn't even have a red star. They're all yellow.
Had I seen this picture without any commentary, I would have likened it to the Christmas version of the White Dwarf. Which is to say, I would have expected it to be the Christmas version of the Black Gobbo, not the Red Gobbo.
So, its is a nice model as far as I'm concerned, but a complete thematic failure.
Nehekhara lives! Sort of!
Why is the rum always gone?

Ehm, the miniature is CLEARLY referencing the Red Gobbo miniature. Anybody that knew the Red Gobbo miniature would have tought of him after seeing this one, and not the Black Goblin, something that hasn't been part of White Dwarf since nearly 15 years ago barring some small references.
Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

They're gold. Like, you know, this:
Ditto for hat star, pins on actual soviet hats were made from brass so it's actually quite okay colour. Though why complain about it when you can paint yours solid red if you want is kind of beyond me.

Is nothing sacred?
...Also, I wanted to be this year's Christmas model. Aren't we due another Primaris Lieutenant soon?
Disappointed that the video didn't feature one of the folks from the Warcry videos in a goblin mask popping up from behind the couch or tree, screeching loudly. It would have been annoying, but funny.
As is, the video was way too restrained (and yes, far too early).

Almost feels like this was previewed early because of some leak, but to my knowledge there has not been any.
It's September. The competition doesn't open until the second week of November. A preview earlier than late October seems quite excessive and pointless.
Decent model, though I feel the face isn't deranged enough.
I don't really see the link between an old Gorkamorka character that GW hasn't mentioned in over a decade and Christmas.
Why would an in-universe character even be dressing up as Santa?
If you were going to dress up a character, why would you pick one nobody remembers, from a long dead game, who lived in a desert, and is dead in-universe?
Given that Necromunda is back, why not bring back Phanta Claws?
He (it) is at least actually Christmasy.
Also, it's fething September! It's too early for Christmas.

Indeed, Only way this is excusable is if GW gives us a full grot supplement

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units." Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?" Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?" GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!" Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

I am surprised its not the black gobbo.
But look at Grombrindal.
He's an in-universe character. He's the ghost of Snorri Whitebeard. And yet, he's been modeled as an aviator, a pirate, a movie director, vampire slayer, and a space man. They also brought slambo back, though he was largely unchanged. It's all about nostalgia.
The White Dwarf is slightly different in that he's the mascot of the magazine - I always assumed that the novelty dress up models were the mascot version rather than the 'serious' in-universe version.
Should have owned their Wolfy mis-steps and made a Logan Claus

Yes, ever since Gorkamorka, although apparently it's more of a title for the leader of the rebel grots than a specific individual. Obviously the whole Christmas thing is new, but it's hardly the only bit of 40k which is a silly reference to real-world stuff.
Disappointed with the rules, simply because he isn't a HQ. It doesn't match the whole rebel grot background to force him into a detachment with an ork HQ. If he was a HQ you could actually field a force entirely made of grots. And because he's a 'legend', they are never going to change his rules.
