I’m trying something different with this list for a tournament coming up. Everything but the vehicles and mortars will be in reserve, with the rest for a heavy turn 2 alpha strike. The Broodlord will be on morale defense and psychic sniping/debuffs/counter assaults, while the Jackal buffing and 12 lascannons with rerolls should be able to cripple the nastiest threat. Acolytes are kitted for either a melee blob or a demo bomb if necessary, with aberrants as a secondary melee threat. The Russes will have the Primaris plus smoke for defensive buffs, hopefully letting them weather a turn or two of focus fire. With Bladed Cog there should be a little more survivability for the infantry, especially with so much -2 AP flying around now. Feel free to comment or offer suggestions.

Bladed Cog, Deliverance Broodsurge Brigade
Patriarch - Single minded obsession, crouchling familiar
Jackal Alpha
Iconward - Vial of Grandsire’s Blood
16 Acolytes - Icon, 5 demo charges
10 Neophytes - 2 mining lasers 2 grenade launchers
10 Neophytes - 2 mining lasers 2 grenade launchers
10 Neophytes - 2 mining lasers 2 grenade launchers
10 Neophytes - 2 mining lasers 2 webbers
10 Neophytes - 2 stubbers 2 grenade launchers
Kelermorph
5 Aberrants - picks, hypermorph with improvised weapon
Sanctus - Gift from Beyond
2 Armored Sentinels - multilasers
Ridgerunner - Heavy Mining Laser, Spotter
3 Mortar Heavy Weapon Teams

Brood Brothers Supreme Detachment
Primaris Psyker
2 Tank Commander Leman Russes - Battlecannon, lascannon, heavy bolters

Hey there!

Kudos on going for a shootier list instead of rock saw/aberrant spam. I do have some thoughts on your set up:

1. What is the dbs specialist det really doing for you? I don’t think the extra CP is worth it to buff your one melee (ish) acolyte squad and the vial relic is less efficient. If you do really want an extra relic besides gift from beyond then oppressors bane on the kelermorph is nice.

2. I get that you’re going for a brigade but the multilaser sentinels are pretty poor. If you want 2 turrets to sit around and do a bit more then I’d suggest autocannons but a few units of vanilla bikes could also work for more mobility and harassment.

3. I worry that going second will hurt you a lot. Leaving your parking lot on the board as the only targets means that any and all anti tank weaponry will severely reduce their effectiveness leaving you with not much to hit with next turn. Unfortunately shooty GSC lists all face similar problems with going second as our survivability comes from hiding off the board and leaving things of little consequence to die until we come in en masse next turn. With lists like this you have to bring AM support to get access to the bigger guns and they end up as sitting ducks if you go second. If you’re ok with this just being a flaw you can’t fix then just enjoy those games where you get to go first...

Heya! I’ve run acolytes like this before to decent effect, it’s mostly for the versatility. I usually run them with perfect ambush as normal to tear up most targets, but those 25 points means I can deploy them in an equally strong position against targets that might otherwise cause some horrible overwatch problems that mass hypnosis can’t solve alone.
The vial relic is mostly to give the Patriarch some extra oomph if he has to get stuck in, and to make mental onslaught hurt a bit more.

The sentinels are pretty bad offensively, but they are surprisingly sturdy for their points cost, and work well to tie up knights that would otherwise be free to back out and keep shooting. I’ll admit it’s mostly because I already have them painted up, otherwise I’d probably replace them with bikes. I might do it anyway if I can get some finished soon enough, they fulfill all the same points as sentinels but work a lot better.

Going second is definitely a problem. Staying out of los and otherwise keeping the tanks away from enemy guns is a priority for sure. The russes are kinda doomed in any case, as they’ll be about the only good target for antitank even when everything else is on the board.
